What is the general thought process/trends for a necromancer when hunting? Should he/she use their spells like quicken earth while fighting or will that ultimately cause problems with other characters/players?

As an example, right now I tend to hunt goblins. If I summon a mudman to fight with me will that cause me issues with being attacked, accused, etc when I go through town later? Is casting spells like heighten pain and siphon vitality, likewise going to get me into trouble with other people if they see me doing it while hunting?

Currently the only spells I use when hunting are strange arrow and an occasional obfuscation...wondering if I need to hold back on other spells or if I can just generally cut loose while hunting as long as I don't have obvious mutations while in town.

Meh, depends. If you want to hide who you are, consider not using Trans spells for a while, until you get to some quieter hunting grounds. Personally, I kind of just went with it, and often use QE because it's powerful as hell.

If you're going to pick up Trans spells, I'd suggest working towards RoC or RoG+Liturgy.
