I was going through lockers to clean them out and found a relic from the first pickle fest:

This small, slender volume is bound in pebbled dark green leather, and the corners of both the back and front covers are reinforced with triangular caps of faenor. Along the front cover, in simple silver script, is the title, "River's Rest Pickled Cook Book," while beneath is a faceted green tourmaline, cut to resemble a giant pickle. On the back cover of the book at the bottom are the words, "First Edition, 5113."
A shame there's no museums in RR where it could be put on display and read rather then collecting dust in my locker :(

Are the books able to be removed from the library once placed there or are they bound to the room somehow?

They can be checked out, and have to be returned within seven days.
A quick test shows that the books, once checked out, are not bound to the library room, and can be taken anywhere you want.
