I tested Fire Rain in Adan'f, I know not the best test subject, but considering the spell is only castable outside, there are very few critters within my range that are not inside by some measure. Now, on to my findings.

I cast the spell at 40 mana last night. Killed I would estimate 5 Adan'f, using only ES as a barrier I got hit a few times, but was able to shape the cloud and recived a 16 sec RT. (RT's do seem a bit high for a viable hunting spell)

Tested again today, at 50 mana, killed about 7 Adan'f. I learned well this time, went from clear to bewildering. Cloud lasted for a good minute to two minutes. This time I had ES up and AC. I didn't hit myself at all, shaped the cloud, kept control of it for the entire length of time.

Galain cast the spell at 60 mana, wasted. Killed 3 Adan'f in the room, had trouble keeping control of the spell after all the critters were in the room. We both got hit. Target has a major impact as to how fast the critters are killed. We both had ES and AC up.

BUG- Rigby mentioned that Veil of Ice helps protect, when we attempted to cast the spell with VoI up, the spell was stopped. I'm not sure if it takes into affect who has the spell up, since we both had it up when we cast the spell, and it failed from the VoI on each of our casting attempts.

All in all it's a nice spell for critters AT your target level. Using all the benificial spells at your disposal will greatly reduce your risk of injury. Can't say much for anybody else in the room. <grin>

Actually, since FR is basically a TM spell, I think it did what it was supposed to.

Although seeing as how it's about the least typical TM spell which will ever exist, I think VoI should do something special against it instead of just taking one mini-pulse of damage.

I didn't try to cast it after casting Fire Rain. There is alot to do already between casting and shaping the cloud, that you'll need a script to be effectively immune to the spell.
