Is it possible you tweaked this a little much? I cast chs at 8 4 or 5 times on a healthy swain and killed it, which resulted in Targeted Magic: 118 93% pondering (from learning). I'm also 7% of a rank from the wall. I think I learn more from snapping 1 mana divine radiances at it and that does NO damage at all.

I am also virtually incapable of learning TM from it now. Granted, Undead should always be our number one option for TM, but the downtweak is a touch severe.

It now takes me approx. 9-12 leucros to move to muddled, hitting them each 3 or 4 times with 10 preps.

Chill Spirit needs to have some messaging attached to it that says what kind of damage is being done.

No, I don't mean 'say its spirit damage'. I mean taking away 1 point of spirit health looks the same as 10000000 points. :P

It would probably be easier to track experience gain in relation to damage done that way.

I agree that tweek was a bit much, The spell went from an effective learnin tool in fens to a spell that is not worth the mana or targetin to cast it..... Maybe it is the critters spirits that is just needin a rewrite so we can learn better from hittin them or something but the tweak was a bit much. I went to sleep lovin the spell and woke up to find it weakened beyond usefulness.... Maybe take another look at it and find a medium between the tweak?

It wasn't a tweak. It was a bug fix of an experience variable which was getting hosed during the comversion to sprititual damage and literally trying to reward thousands of bits of exp per cast (thank goodness there is a cap in the core script for such cases.. but was still giving max possible target exp on every cast).

Damissak,

Any chance you can look at the experience gain from the spell as it is now? If it is as intended i will leave it alone, just seems like it is not teaching much per cast compared to our other TM spells...

Yes, we will certainly continue to monitor things. It is a little difficult at the moment as GM Skralthaen's computer has gone boom (and his feedback is quite important, particularly with a new type of spell like this). I believe that GM Rigby pointed out that this spell, in particular, will be very closely watched as it is a completely new type of spell (with quite a bit of unique code).

4 Leucs, about 16 casts of 15 mana preps:

Targeted Magic: 172 82.22% muddled

Not TOO bad, but could be turned up a little. I find 15 the most effective amount to prep at, as it does solid damage and does not kill the leucro instantly.

thanks for the advice Statis i will play with it a bit more and see if have better luck. My TM is a good bit higher than yours even though ye have me a bit in circles... I wander if should be prepin higher to learn more.. With the fens I tap out before i they die in a room with glowin mana. TM goes to concentrating. I could cast HE on a DS which is an easier critter and learn more per cast than i can with chill spirit even learn more with DR and a DS than i am with fens and chill spirit. Looks like the risk vs reward should be a bit different is what i am thinking. I am sure our guru will give it another look when he gets back until then I will play around with it....

In the little bit of testing I did since the experience change, I learned slightly more from CHS than from HE, on a per-creature basis. This is mostly due to the fact that HE kills in 3 casts at absolute most, wherease I can cast CHS 5 or 6 times before the creature dies. On a per-cast basis, CHS is probably slightly lower.

This is a plinking spell, something we desperately needed for learning.

Yeah, my TM is terrible. :)

Try something that is above your head a little. I know Guardians locked me up pretty good, and I wasn't in much danger there.

Damissak has adjusted this, and there should be a noticeable change for the better in the TM experience the spell is giving, putting it about at the range of Aether Lance, Frost Scythe and the like.

This is just a preliminary tweak, and we are continuing to monitor this and ways to better equate the spell with its brethren.
