After Distant Gaze...

The planet Yoakena is well within perceivable range.
The planet Penhetia is within your perceivable range.
The planet Szeldia is within your perceivable range.
The planet Ismenia is within your perceivable range.

So as you can imagine I almost crapped my pants and thought I better not post this Rigby will hit the "tweak" button!! lol

However I released my gaze and got the EXACT same amount of planets :) So it was just a fluke that the planets happened to move into a better position.

All of the books went up 1 level with DG on, and back down 1 level with it off. So the effect is definitely noticable, which is great. If you put Aura Sight up at the same time, we truely have a great PP boosting combo!

Thanks Rigby!

I cast a 50 mana DG then a 60 mana AUS and didnt get barely anything different at 500+ Power Percep. I'm wondering if these spells that boost are even going to be worth it as my skills get so high that the global caps dont put a dent in my ability.

Conclusions: Either I cap with Aura Sight alone, or they don't stack. There is a noticable, but
slight, difference in how much they help.

Its called gaps, see what most of the higher mages are seeing is the fact that even though aura sight and DG actually do boost good amount of ranks it takes a good amount of ranks to even notice a small difference

after a certain point it'll take you something like 400 ranks before you actually notice any difference in the current mana

Wow, you guys are nuts! I just cast DG at 6 mana (the min prep) and went up a level in every book.

Does adding more mana into DG actually help with the PP boost?

I just wanted to cast them both at the peak of my ability for consistancy. Theory being that there
must be SOME difference in adding more mana into DG, even if we can't see it and haven't been told what.

Also, after much discussion and another test last night, I was able to stack the two spells with
noticable improvement. The interesting part to note is that both spells alone were giving much smaller
bonuses than in the first test, and both together were still not increasing me as much as Aura Sight
alone during the first test, even though I cast it at the same amount of mana.

I think it was probably true that my skill was too high to glean any extra benefit from the small bonus
with DG on the maybe two planets that I can still draw extra mana from, and that during the second
test, when my overall available mana was less to begin with, I had more room to grow with. Though
this doesn't explain the boost being significantly lower. (As in, each spell alone only increasing my
max prep by 1 mana point, as opposed to 4 or 6 during the first test, and 3 or 4 when used together.)

By the way, I'd appreciate it if people would actually post some test results rather than just tell
me why I'm wrong when all I did was post the numbers and speculate a starting point. I DID make
room for possibilities, I never said "They don't stack, period". And yes, I'm well aware of learning
gaps at higher levels. You did see my PP skill, right?

This could have more to do with the lunar and celestial positions than your skill. If some planets shifted further away between your tests than it would take more power perception to get to the same level you were at previously. Your bonus was the same, it's just everything else that was different.

To be truly consistent with this I think you'd need to do all the testing without any of the 'overall increase/decrease in lunar mana' messages, or any other augmentations (shadowling, prediction, Bard song, etc.). And if the heavens shift enough to cause an overall change in lunar mana, you'd just have to start back at the beginning for the sake of accuracy.

Good theory. Like I mentioned to someone else last night, knowing exactly what skill it takes to put
my eighth planet well within would have really helped.

There was none, unless I missed a mana change message in all the scroll I was giving myself. Heh.

My test results:

Before DG and AUS:

The planet Verena is well within perceivable range.
The planet Estrilda is within your perceivable range.
The planet Durgaulda is well within perceivable range.
The planet Yoakena is well within perceivable range.
The planet Penhetia is within your perceivable range.
The planet Szeldia is within your perceivable range.
The planet Ismenia is well within perceivable range.
Roundtime: 4 Sec.

After DG but no AUS:

The planet Verena is well within perceivable range.
The planet Estrilda is well within perceivable range.
The planet Durgaulda is well within perceivable range.
The planet Yoakena is well within perceivable range.
The planet Penhetia is within your perceivable range.
The planet Szeldia is within your perceivable range.
The planet Merewalda is within your perceivable range.
The planet Ismenia is well within perceivable range.
Roundtime: 4 Sec.

After AUS DG still up:

The planet Verena is well within perceivable range.
The planet Estrilda is well within perceivable range.
The planet Durgaulda is well within perceivable range.
The planet Yoakena is well within perceivable range.
The planet Penhetia is well within perceivable range.
The planet Szeldia is well within perceivable range.
The planet Merewalda is within your perceivable range.
The planet Ismenia is well within perceivable range.
Roundtime: 4 Sec.

AUS was already making it into my spell book, looks like DG will make it earlier just for the PP boost. Was planning on getting shift moonbeam and needed DG for that anyway.
