Ok, I've got 46 in music lore and am trying to learn more. What would be a good instrument to use for a non-bard that has lore secondary?

AES is the devil :-P
Try using three instrument types (percussion, string, wind) playing through each rapid, fierce, aimless, playful, and flashy. I currently use a lyre, whistle, and spoons (very easy instruments to play found on Ratha.) One time through all of that will get me to very muddled-perplexed at 150 ranks off of AES (secondary lore). Considering each style takes about 15 seconds to play you can move music lore to approximately perplexed in only 2.5-3 minutes. Not bad considering once you get it going you can move it even higher (bewildering+) the next time you play and you don't have to worry about the AES timer.

<Or I could work on a skill that is useful for something....
whether its on AES or not.>
You never know when something might become useful.
I was sure glad i trained scholarship when i wanted to read the magic scrolls.
And Jent's told the rangers to keep working on their music. Who knows how that's gonna affect us.
And even if you really believe that music will never help you...TDPs are always good.
