Heyo e'eryone,
Probably been a long-standing dilemma for a lot of the Rangers in the Langenfirth area, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions anyway. I've got about 70 lessons of climbing and haven't trained it seriously in some time, although I believe the cliff/trail near Ogres west of Crossing still teaches me well. Just curious...is there anywhere at all to climb in the Langen area? Besides the logs, that tree in Wolves, and those few areas in/around Theren, are there any places to train climbing seriously? I'd rather not, y'know, become a log-hog, and I don't think those logs really would train me much anyway from what I've tried.
Any suggestions?
For the GM's-Has there been any discussion about training this? I realize there're quite a few places in Aesry, but could there be one, like, difficult place to learn climbing near Langen?
Thankee much,
Eliach, Moon Mage

Actually the logs will train you to at least 100. Look back in this folder for a script on how to do it. I just start on the southern log, climb log, move to next log, repeat to up by El'bains. Then climb back repeating backwards. I can lock up climbing pretty quick, survival prime.

The only other real spot is the ladder in spirits (off of vines). Although that is only a one 'room' climb, so with the timer, probably wouldn't teach all that much. As for the logs, they will teach you past 120. With 70, you'll be able to lock.. I was able to lock with nearly 120 (which surprised me.. I had thought they died out around 70-80 as well), although it took a while.
There's the tree at the peltry in Lang, and the ledge in the moat of Theren. There is a place for high level climbing up in seords.. if you want to risk that (and I assume its way above 70).
So, logs are basically it if you want to train seriously. I found that while I was there, I would just climb each thing as I came across it (selling pelts, climb the tree. Going to the bank, climb the moat on the way in and back out. going to marauders, climb the ladder down and up, etc), and just keep climbing moving somewhat.
It has been asked of the GM's whether climbing would be expanded there, they said yes. Where it falls on the list, don't know. If I had to guess, not soon.

there is one more spot near the ladder which teaches climbing fairly nicely- the dam- but you will need a light source- teaches two directions, so if you combine that with the ladder its not bad for learning if you are fighting spirits and marauders.

Oh!? Where exactly is that, that one's new to me. And do you really need a light source, or can you just stumble around?
