I have around 150 swimming right now and i can swim between NTR and Riverhaven without much trouble at all, except for the occasional current that drags me to the east and tanks my fatigue. Anyone know when i can look forward to not having to worry about getting dragged around by the current in this particular river?

What's your strength/armor/burden situation?

I'm not positive how the 'drag' check works, but I would assume that it follows the same logic as the swim check. Strength is very important, as is burden. Armor is also a key factor. Try putting your armor away, unless it will overburden you too much. Depending on the armor type, the trade-off could be in your favor.

I'm thinking its probably my stamina, but i could be wrong. I usually try to make sure i have no burden when i swim, but sometimes have a light burden. i wont try with anything more than that yet.

Pretty sure 150 is the starting point for swimming the Faldesu - give it another 30 ranks or so and it should be less of an issue.

yeah, i've had to change it on my own copy of Kraeylsts travel script, as that attempts to swim it at 120 ranks.

Depends also on your strength and your guild. Don't know where it starts at maybe 25'sh in strength. After that though any point in strength lets you swim as if you had like 3 more swimming lessons. (Been a while since I've had trouble with it , but from what I remember as a ranger I started doing it at around 28 strength and ~120 in swimming.) This is with no burden though.

If you're a ranger there's a pretty good bonus to survival skills.

If you cap that swimming the Segolthia's swimmable now as well, but it takes ~280 in swimming to do it. But once you can there's an island with some high level climbing there.
