Lets see here. So from what I have read we have -
books in a library (good for role playing purposes - bad for experiance gain. Im less than 90 and don't get anything.)
patterns - (ok for a experiance gain if you have ALOT of time or are also in a lesson at the time. But serves zero use towards role playing since if you actually embroider all you do is make a bunch of useless no good looking things that your just going to toss. Including your money with it and alot of that time ends up with you not studying enough to gain scholarship of any value.)
Bead primers - Same as before, only you end up with something that you have zero use for afterwards entirely. You can't even sell them.
Ledger studying - Traders only, pointless to mention.
Enchanting scroll - Moon mages only, no point in suggesting this. And as it is, you still need alot of skill to make one. Or alot of coin to buy one.
First fold in origami - Uhm, gee... I feel the only thing I need to learn is how to do the first fold.. This is what we call normal - NOT.. This carries once again zero use for role playing.
And finally Spell books. The one item that most uniquely fits for scholarship and role playing. Only problem is they also might as well not be counted since its become only an old character or extremely rich character that has a spell book they can learn from.
Suggestion to fix this - Bring back the spell book shop.
So my only question is - Who and what is the e-mail address of the GM who would most likely be responsible for the return of the Spell Book shop.

Skrathaen, the cleric guru, does spellbooks. But he has other priorities right now.

leave em dead, cause you cant do more;
lost your coins, on the floor;

Beads show your devotion to the Gods. You don't have to be a Cleric to want to show your devotion.

Don't stop at the first fold, go ahead and finish 'em out. Never know when ya might be called upon to fold napkins for a fancy banquet.

I believe it was said somewhere that Skral's busy with a big project right now. They'll be back eventually.

Scroll back to the start of this folder, It won't be terribly hard to figgerit out.

>>Well then, I guess the question would be this. Do I e-mail GM Skralthaen, or GM Solomon, or both on a daily basis to encourage the return of the spell book shop.
That would only get your email ignored. GM Skralthaen is in charge of the shop, and he is too busy to deal with it right now. He already knows we are breathlessly awaiting its return, hammering the poor guy's email box will accomplish nothing except maybe hastening the day he decides to quit.
Then we'll be waiting 5 years while someone else figures out his code so they can take over ... then THEY quit ...

Actually, I would just rather hear it from them. As for getting my e-mail address ignored, a simple new msn/yahoo/wtf/and many others a day would eliminate that problem on my end.
They are making so many changes to the realms like the way how Moon Mages are totally dependent on scholarship now to circle. If Soloman says - We'll bring it on for HWN's 2003. I think it would be enough said to end the conversation. If a GM sais DR2, I will snap and lash out. Now if they include a good reason why, I might not. But, it would have to be good.

Except MMs have very good ways to train scholarship now outside of spellbooks. I have one and I never use it for scholar training and am a dozen circles ahead in my scholar req. Also for the record speaking as someone with 250+ Scholarship and secondary with the new teaching system I can lock it in a class rather easy on any topic...

I'm so glad for you... Now consider everyone else. Why not let everyone else know your trick so that the GM's can hear how its done and change it as they have done for many others. And remember, this will still be clearly just for Moon Mage's. But I have a friend who needs 60+ ranks in scholarship from the change still. And Im sure if he needs help, as may many other players.
For myself, I still only play a Warrior Mage. We don't have a single scholarship benefit beyond spell books by nature and lessons. Spending an hour in a lesson just to mind lock scholarship is tedious and boring.
How about make it so that one has to attain a circle of 25 or 30 to get a spell book and have a quest. Maybe make it so that the Guild Leader bassically sais -
Congradulations, your now ready to begin working towards your next circle.
At this circle your not ready to get a spell.
But if you wish, you may quest for the items to put together your own spell book.
And then being its our own, we wouldn't have the sections to spells we don't know. But could have the sections we do. And obviously be capable of writing in them. Then we can also decide how special a spell book we want. Obviously no special protections, no bonding. But a name and your spells and be capable to learn scholarship from it just as well as any other spell book teaches it.
Perhaps have the option of several inks and page types.

And people wonder why I am so cynical and start stomping on other posters.

Posts like that, that's why.
Ditch the attitude and ask nicely, bud. Then one of us would likely be more than happy to help you learn scholarship.
Not that tips on how to learn scholarship at very reasonable rates haven't already been posted in several places many times over the last few months, and you simply lack the desire to go look them up ...

Good way to let Skralthaen focus on his work and finish up ressurection, so that he can actually work on other things (spellbooks included, I would imagine).
Harassing the GM is always a good idea.

A quick prediction of a possible future chain of events follows. Enjoy.
Dear Solomon,
Accountholder FIRE-SOUL is using multiple free email accounts to harass me about spellbooks. He has been previously warned about the consequences. Please delete this account.
Cheers,
Skralthaen
Skral,
Problem solved. Lemme know if anything else turns up. Now get back to work.

Im sorry, I broke my arm falling over on that one ~I.B.
I only stated how getting around being ignored. Never said I'd continue if warned. punt
Now, as you can see. Only some of my posts are cynical and sarcastic. Why do you ask?
Because changes need to be made and there are too many tools. The very last responce given in this particular section of the forums was from Solomon saying he didn't want them to be popular. That in turn means he wants all the old characters that could get them to be it. And I have learned one thing that they love to teach about this game. This game is not fair nor created or worked on equally.
