November has been a busy month for those of us behind the Premium curtain.
Auctions: Coming on the tail-end of a huge festival that was free for all, Estate Holders began the month with three auctions: one to test the new token auction system which we'll be using lots; one for subscribers of two years and more; and one for subscribers of less than 24 months. These events were certainly well attended.
Gatherings: There will be no other Premium gathering in November. We will resume monthly gatherings in December. Mark your calendars for Dec. 16, 1999; Jan. 20, Feb. 17, March 16, 2000. Some of these will be meetings, some will be special events with times to be announced.
Preview: A new hunting area north of The Crossing opened for premium preview this week.
Gifts: The "gift" to all Estate Holders this month will be an amazing and very useful improvement to an existing premium-only benefit. Watch the NEWS for the announcement of its release.
In the Works: We are testing the new alteration system that will help ease us into the fulfillment of one of the long-promised, long-term membership benefits: Once you have been a premium subscriber for a continuous 52 weeks, you will be entitled to an item-description alteration. We missed the promised deadline on this; we're working every day to make it happen.
Our Island: Construction is continuing on the expansion of our own special island, accessible through premium-only portals. Completion of this project will be cause for celebration, indeed!
Keep your questions and comments coming.

Happy Holidays!
Welcome, Jettia: A belated welcome to our message board monitor, Jettia! Thanks, Jettia, for all you do to keep us on topic and running smoothly.
Toy Quest: Harpa the Tinker repaired 22 lost and forgotten toys. She reported that all who found more than one toy shared with some who found none, and some even shared precious gems with folks who wanted a little extra adornment for their toys. Harpa said: "Some of the stories told to me behind my curtain made me laugh and laugh. Some of the stories broke my heart. It was a glorious time, and I hope you will invite me and my apprentice Pahnthar back to fix what is broken and to hear the grand and glorious tales of your citizens' adventures."
Monthly meetings: It's difficult to find a time when everyone can attend. I hope to scatter events throughout the week so folks on varying schedules can participate. We seemed to have stupendous attendance at the auction on Sunday afternoon of the Baron's Festival, so Sunday afternoon might be a good time for special events, though I remember some folks complained about that time, too. Unless there's something to announce, or a GM is speaking about something new and exciting, I'd be happy to skip meetings and substitute some fun event. Just thinking out loud here.
I've already announced the meeting times for January-March. They are Jan. 20, Feb. 17 and March 16, 9 p.m. est. I'll put those dates in NEWS in-game. I'd like to have a reporter at every meeting, someone to write, not a log, but a report of what happened at the meeting to be distributed to those who request it. GM Helena is working on an in-game newspaper. That could be the perfect location for such a report.
Wonky portals: I don't know what happened to the portals after Harpa the Tinker's session with toy mending ended. Everybody, no matter where they came from, seemed to be going back to the Crossing. Those folks who REPORTED that they went to the wrong spot were teleported back home. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Premium rewards: We are training on the new altering system, which is similar to the one used during the Feast of Eluned. This is what I've learned so far. There will be a tent, in the tent are scrolls. You pick up a scroll, hold what you want altered in one hand, the scroll in the other...you "write" on the scroll how you'd like your item altered. There is negotiation between GM and citizen about the alteration, in this case, not about price, because it will be free to Estate Holders of at least 12 continuous months. When the alteration is completed, the citizen is contacted in game by way of a runner, and the altered item is handed off.
Just typing that has made me dizzy, thinking of all the systems that have to be checked and double checked and tested and tested again to get from the beginning of that paragraph to the end. It involves many people working in all areas behind the curtain. Hundreds of hours have been spent already on this "reward," and I'm not deep enough into how things work to fully appreciate what all that means.
So, I ask for your continued patience.
Tanning: This really isn't a premium topic...it's back in the hands of the Rangers.
New Estate Holders: If you meet a new Estate Holder who has questions, please direct them to the verb PREMIUM. Another good verb to know is HOME HELP. Thanks!
Just for fun: Tell me ... if you could have just one game from the Baron's Festival on "our island," which game would it be? Please exclude the dunking booth ... at least until the pond thaws.
Bundle up!

Howdy, Estate Holders!
Please mark your calendars for Dec. 20, 9 p.m. eastern, for the next Premium Meeting. We'll have questions from the audience, and gifts for those who attend.
The NEWS has been cleaned up now, and some of those oldy-moldy items should be gone. Thanks for the suggestion.
Harpa the Tinker has met with some of the winners of the Design-an-Area contest to reward them, but others have not responded yet to my e-mail. If you are a winner and haven't received a notice, please check the mailbox where your <account>@play.net mail is going. If you still haven't received mail, please write DR-Winnow@play.net. You need to respond only if you cannot make Harpa's scheduled visit.
A notice of this was posted in NEWS 30 and updated after the first session. Harpa won't give up until all are given their prizes for winning the Design-An-Area contest. Her next scheduled visit is 2 p.m. eastern Sunday, Jan. 8. In the meantime, she'll look for stragglers. Please have what you want altered with you, and an idea of what you want altered. Harpa doesn't balance, temper, sharpen or make magic. She's just a tinker.
Hawkman: A note about the forges. The Leth Deriel forge is premium only. Not in preview. A public forge, open to all, not just Barbarians and Paladins, opened today.
Sneak: I dunno if I'd want Harpa and her very long needles messin with the customers' eyes... . The way the new system works is, you hafta hold the item you want altered in your hand.
