The introduction of this code has been delayed while additional tests are
being done. Part of the planned code was re-written and new code added
that couldn't be fully tested in time for implementation. The following is
an explanation of the changes. This isn't an invitation to a discussion
since there isn't any time for that. This is here to keep you informed.
This code is now scheduled to be implemented into live tomorrow noon once
all testing has been completed.
Stamina and how it affects critical hits has been altered to be based on a
random roll based on your current body health and your stamina stat. This
change only affects those who have stamina stats of 21 or greater. The
higher your stamina stat, the more likely you will see a change.
Stamina will now affect how many points of damage your body will take from
an attack by reducing it in a similar manner as to how stamina reduces
criticals. This change only affects those who have a stamina stat of 21 or
greater. The higher your stat, the larger the benefit.
Body Location and critical level will affect the maximum allowable hit
point damage. Currently, all hit points get applied regardless of the body
part it hit.
The new system will limit damage based on which body part got hit. For
instance, if you are in perfect health and lose a hand, it will not kill
you outright. This applies to arms, legs, hands and tails.
The amount of hit point damage applied is affected by the critical wound
level you receive. If you don't receive a critical wound of sufficient
strength, you will not be killed outright from being in perfect health.
For instance, if you are in perfect health and a creature hits you with
enough damage to kill you in hit points but fails to cause a critical hit
of sufficent strength (usually a bleeder), you will not die from the blow,
though you will be at death's door.
The upshot of all this is that criticals will be more likely to kill than
before and hit point death (being beaten to death without getting any
critical hits) will be less likely.
