Hello, everyone. :)
Wanted to get your feedback on the Mantle of Flame spell. When I created the burning touch cantrip, I didn't really consider that it makes MoF obsolete. Being able to create torches from branches negates the need for a "light" spell.
So, I'm looking for some ideas on what to add/change about the spell to make it more useful. I already have an idea or two in mind, but I want to see what you guys come up with first. :)

I just realized I never told you what my tentative decision on MoF was.
I'll keep the basic light-source in, and have that be the "minimum" effect of the spell.
When you put in enough extra mana, you'll start getting some "fire" damage with brawling attacks.
With even more mana, you'll get some stealing protection.
EX: 5 mana minimum, at 15 you'd get the brawling damage, at 25 you'd get the stealing protection (numbers are rough, and subject to change <G>). Of course, the effects are "stackable", so the light source exists no matter how much mana you put in. So, casting at 25, would get you light source, brawling extra damage, and some stealing protection.
On Fortress of Ice, here's what I'm aiming for:
Casting is going to take the caster, everyone in the caster's group, everyone/thing engaged to the caster/member of caster's group, all items guarded by caster/member of caster's group/person engaged to member of caster's group, and any dead bodies being guarded by... well, you get the idea. <chuckle>
The caster must remain within the FOI, or it falls apart. Caster can climb out to end FOI prematurely.
The minimum duration will be about 5 minutes, but can go up to an hour with enough mana. It won't be stackable, but if the caster casts the spell again while within the walls, it will work like Swirling Winds. IE: 2 minutes left, cast with 10 minute duration, you get 10 minutes. 20 minutes left, you cast with 5-minute duration, you get 5 minutes.
Climbing out of the FOI will award no exp & be an instant success. This isn't intended to trap people (I've got something else in mind for that ;D ). You'll be able to drag dead bodies out of the FOI with instant success.
The caster, while within the FOI, can cast it on a specific person, and if that person is outside the FOI (EX: you're in TGN, cast FOI, and then cast on someone who's still in TGN), the FOI will "swallow" that person and anyone in his/her group/engaged to/etc.
You will be able to WATCH <wall> to see what's going on in the room outside the FOI.
<pant!>
With all of this functionality, I doubt it'll be ready by Christmas. I'm going to try, though.

Hello again, everyone. :)
I've been thinking about the code necessary for all the functionality in FoI, and including testing time, there's no way I'll be able to get that spell out this month.
However, I will be able to get Mantle of Flame done this month. It's a relatively easy spell to code and test. :) I'll be shooting for January or February release on FoI.

Hello, everyone. :)
Mantle of Flame is coming along nicely. We're testing it right now, and fixing all the little typos & bugs we can find.
I need to hear back from Royce on when the stealing system will be ready to support the extra theft defense MoF provides. Once I know on that, I can start planning a release date.
