I'm curious, I'm a ranger and i currently use Leather armor, i have about 150 ranks in Leather. Someone suggested I upgrade to Light Chain armor.

the question I have is besides the obvious Defence boost in abosrbing damage, Will Light Chain effect my stealth and evasion and manuverability?

some people have told me that with LC i can reduce both stealth and manuverability to nothing makeing it better then Leather? Is this true and with how many ranks should i make the big switch between armors.

thanks

Like you, I had about 150 or so ranks of leather before I went to all chain. You will notice some hindrance of stealth and evasion, but not much. And that will go down as you get chain ranks.

You can use LC effectively as a Ranger. Yes the stealth penalty will always be higher than if you were in leather, and you have to ask yourself if that matters. I never use stealth at level, so I slap on some plate and some chain and off I go. When it comes time to train ranged (ie snipe) I loose the metal. Evasion hinderance wise I wouldn't be surprised if you could dodge better in capped LC than you could in say reinforced garg leathers, given 150 ranks in each armor. However, I'm not sure that really matter anymore; gone are the days of being evasion prime, reflex heavy, parry nonexistent. Either you're packing two defenses or you're back-training.

If there's one thing that the recent slew of changes have taught us though its that you better be prepared for LC to suck one day. If you're not training every skill, eventually some change is going to bite you in the rear, so if you can figure out how to do it, train both.

Finally, now might be the worst time ever to pick up a new armor. With big pools (because of stats) to fill and critters running from you every 5 minutes, good luck.
