Is this supposed to be happening a few times per hour?
Moving as one fluid extension of power but with bizarre luck, a Maelshyvean shadow beast slices wide at you. You deflect little of the jambiya with a darkened steel lata'oloh inlaid with moonstone. The jambiya lands a very heavy hit that leaves you with a bloody hole where the left eye used to be, dealing you a vicious stun.

I have been receiving critics a few times an hour after the combat changes. Although, this is one of the harder ones, normally the hits aren't strong like that but this was just facing one beast. Before changes I was able to dance block stop with 3 at melee raw skill 4 at melee if dancing. Now if I just dance with one for say 5 minutes he will land multiple hits on me and even when constantly attackng with weapon and killing them as they come I receive multiple light hits where before I could hunt 3 hours straight and not be touched at all.
I'm just curious if this supposed to be intended or if some of the calculations are off.

Sounds like mainly bad luck.
I haven't noticed an increase in open rolls and have been in combat fairly often. They still seem pretty rare to me, and still quite deadly.
What i've noticed is taking more hits, and with the increase of hits more light stuns. Even those light stuns get me beat back and forth like a ragdoll alot.
That been my situation with the change, but no crits really.

I noticed it more so with critter that use puncture type weapons, Krystha and I are hunting shadow beast/cinder beast in under haven and theh critics are always coming out of the lunges, even the only time they hit us is witha lunge. I Discussed this with Galren a few times and it seems lunge got a major boost after changes. However, the defensive penalty is far too great for me to chance a move like that hehe but with the right timing it can make a huge difference.
The frequency of the open roll though has nothing to do with the attack type, I know that just meant that the hits or hardest hits are coming from that attack verb.

I don't think it was a specific boost to lunge per say more of an "evasion got nerfed, power hits are going to count/land more" now boost.
Regardless of what is causing these open rolls, one thing is certain...

I agree but I do have a question, even though I don't use evasion as my primary offense immediately after the change I started receiving more light/brushing hits from a mob that wasn't touching me before.
Course it happens more when i'm using a less balanced blunt than my better balanced edges.
Any thoughts?
