This is definitely an improvement from before, but it still feels a bit low to me. My crossbow skill is just over 140, which is probably about 100 ranks too low for baby gryphons. My missile mastery is just over 220. I usually need to stun the baby gryphons to hit them at all, but I learn only 2 mindstates per shot. This is using a full aim each time.
I agree that the 6 or so mindstates I used to gain before the first change was too high and this is much better than the half a mindstate I gained before this last change, but this still seems rather low, considering the time it takes and the overhunting.

Overhunting won't train you THAT much better - 2 mindstates per shot means you need to take 17 shots, and with a crossbow that's ~25 seconds per shot, which is about 7 minutes. I also think you're probably getting a bit more than 2 mindstates per shot (I was during testing), and those fractions will add up to take you down around the 6 minute mark, which is pretty reasonable.

Maybe my quick, in-the-head math is a off, but doesn't this put you at 13-15 minutes to ML? I know weapons can train faster than that depending on circumstances, but is that considered an unreasonably long time? (I ask that question in all seriousness and of anyone willing to reply, not just the OP.)

It was inconsistent with Socharis's 7 minutes estimate, which I was responding to. It's frustrating because when I'm training crossbow I'm doing only that. It's possible a slightly lower creature would work better overall, but having to stun these because I was overhunting and learning this little felt like underwhelming. It's definitely better than before, but it still just doesn't feel worth the effort to me, which is disappointing.

Mine are taking me between 7min (LE which trains very fast) and 15min (Staves/2HB which do not train fast) at 18th circle, with assorted times in between. I can test more exactly later if you like. The gap I attribute to 1-2 second RTs on a tyrium hawkbill vs. 7-9 seconds on a three-fold staff and that Prydaen auction spear.
