Now that there's arm worn shields and you can use 2handed weapons while benefiting from shields at the same time.. is there any point to this weapon category anymore? Half the damage, same round time... its just crap crap crap!
Almost immediately, you grow dizzy, tottering from side to side until finally collapsing to the ground, dead asleep.
You drop your iron trunk.
Roundtime: 7 seconds.
>awaken
You can't do that while you are asleep.

Well, only paladins are able to wear tower shields arm-worn. So maybe other guilds would still benefit from holding a tower shield and wielding an HE in their on-hand. And then of course there's (eventual) dual wield...
I find twohanded edged to be overkill, myself. HE works quite well.

I have this gut feeling that HE will still be neglected when dual wield comes out. Just seems to me like a greatsword would be devastating and dual scimitars would be devastating and fast/feasible but dual broadswords would just be sort of unbecoming.
Will be perfectly reliable in DR's combat system, but I get the feeling ME's gonna be a lot more popular for dual functionality.

<<,I dunno, I compare the umph of HE/ME and I'd personally go with two broads over two dinky scims. Of course, to each thier own.
I wasn't talking damage potential so much as popularity. You see a lot more people wielding forged scimitars then forged broadswords. Of course, there are basties (HE/2HE), but currently all the people I know tend to favor 2HE. Maybe that will change with dual wield.

<<There are quite a few people that go with HE/2HE as primary/secondary or vice versa weapons even though personally I went with 2HE/ME. I kind of regret that choice.>>
I went with longbow/ME/brawling on my ranger and regret it now. I should have gone longbow/HE/brawling at the least.

People dual wielded with what is considered heavy edge all the time.
the scottish were fond of broadswords accompanied by dirks or main gauches
heavy edged is just as good as medium edge at comparable weights (especially if you have one of those old heavy slice 18 stone broads)
not to mention a good portion of the axes in the game are heavy edged.
what they need to do is fix the impact in melee combat again, so if your parrying a 200 stone mace with your dagger, your going on your rump.
or if you get hit with an HX bolt, you get knocked over...
some things used to be much more fun.

>I just hope HE will be dual wieldable.
I heard at one time that it would be a Barbarian feat to use HE in the offhand. Dont know if that is still planned.

>Barbarian propaganda. At no time was it ever stated by a GM that anything other than two handed weapons would be restricted from use in dual-wielding.
Maybe, but like most DR fallacies if we keep repeating it, it will come true.
Magic is not a crutch. It is merely something that mages depend upon to get through life.
