A leaf-blade longsword with a black sharkskin grip is a heavy edged melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
heavy slice damage
fair impact damage

You are certain that the longsword is fairly balanced and is reasonably suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the leaf-blade longsword is fairly sturdy, and is in pristine condition.

The leaf-blade longsword is made with metal.
You wonder if the leaf-blade longsword probably weighs a few tens of stones.
You are certain that the leaf-blade longsword is worth exactly 20000 lirums.

A small inscription has been carved into the bow-shaped crossguard -- "With a good sword, who needs a bow?"

Heres what Vibrato forged for me, I think they compare the same with the forged model being just a few stones lighter? been a while since i weighed the barb wagon one though.

32 stone l/h/f f/r fairly sturdy

I dig it over the all to common broad and bastard swords.

Looks much like the stats for my schianova(sp), though the longswords construction is a bit weaker if I recall. I can't log in right now to check though to confirm. Like Teeklin said, I'd use it.

Schianova = falchion. It's heavy slice/mod impact, and fair balance / fair suited. 54 stones; my favorite storebought HE.

I would use that longsword simply for the fact that it is fairly balanced. Generally longswords are poorly or worse (excluding the Elven longsword which just sucks all around anwyay).

"Schianova"

I like the original better- I translate it as: "She a no-go" (my apologies for anyone who actually speaks Italian or Spanish)

The elven longsword is better than it appraises and is a good starter weapon still. I think if you take one to a forge and grind the word "Elven" off, it might not suck so bad.

I like the even older version from the Roman bath houses... "She a yes-yes"

Yeah.. these days people are looking for weapons that are actually good rather than a weapon they can swing with low RT at low strength.

Have to disagree Olesh, the schiavona is nothing like a falchion.

The schiavona is a beautiful weapon where as in my opinion the falchion is a machete sort of weapon. A common hacking thing, an ugly weapon to be sure.

Uh...I could be coming from left field on this...but...I don't think he was talking about what it looks like but rather the weapon template.

Falchion - Poor Heavy Moderate Heavy Edged Fairly Fairly

Schiavona - Poor Heavy Moderate Heavy Edged Fairly Fairly

Ah, ok I see where that might be what he meant. :nods: I just don't like comparing a fine weapon like that to an orc blade of a falchion!

The schiavona is so much more then a over sized machete.

You can get a schiavona on Ratha, second tier. Falchions are sold in Shard, I believe... SCC? Also, you can buy a robe sword on Aesry. All three are the same sword (by app, Jim. By app.).

They have the exact same stats and comparisons. It's one of my favorite store-bought weapons, also.
