A question for all you light edge enthusiasts out there:
What are the stats generally like on short swords forged with special metals? Also, how much do these generally cost? Thanks.

Generally, I'm not sure of the stats exactly, BUT I'd say doing rare metals on LE is a complete waste. You're not going to get anything above well balanced without a massive hit to damage and power. If you're looking for an LE it's generally better to look at either puncture or slice because it's rare to get both. Mod slice katars are where it's at, don't bother with rare metals on LE. If you're looking for slice/puncture/balance get an Outcast dagger f/f well balanced.
Just my two cents.
You*'*re taking a big risk.

well, that's your opinion, and you're welcomed to it, but I'd have to disagree. While it's true that the mod slice katar is great, the 39 stones that it weighs is ludicrous. I'm not sure about the dagger, because I'm picky, and won't use a weapon if the look of it doesn't suit my character.
I seldom use slice, but when I do, I use my talon blade.
A dark talon blade is a light edged melee-ranged weapon.
The talon blade is well suited for backstabbing.
You are certain that it could do:
fair puncture damage
fair slice damage
poor impact damage
You are certain that the blade is fairly balanced and is poorly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.
When I'm stabbing and need the power more than the balance, I use my forged short sword.
A blackened glaes short sword with a dark snakeskin grip is a light edged melee-ranged weapon.
The short sword is well suited for backstabbing.
You are certain that it could do:
moderate puncture damage
low slice damage
poor impact damage
You are certain that the sword is fairly balanced and is fairly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.
And, on those rare days that I don't care about the extra puncture, and I want the balance, I'll use my dagger.
A slender jeweled dagger is a light edged melee-ranged weapon.
The jeweled dagger is well suited for backstabbing.
You are certain that it could do:
fair puncture damage
low slice damage
poor impact damage
You are certain that the dagger is well balanced and is dismally suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.
but, that's just my way of doing things.

You can get a mod puncture short sword forged with regular metals but it won't be very balanced, for slice a katar is usually better because of the impact it does. But as far as the 40 stone Katar, they pretty much weigh that, heavy bastard for an LE

Outcast katars are not discounted from my direct prices, if you consider coin conversion rates. It's roughly the same. Not saying don't buy them, just correcting a misconception.
By the way, I finally got around to testing a beast jambiya... I was not as impressed as I thought I'd be. I'd relegate them to low strength or thieves who need them for... other reasons. And, of course, they are much cheaper as people are willing to give them away (I think I have one spare myself if anyone would like one.)
