a steel-bladed harki knife with a curved bone hilt
>l knife

The blade is thin and flexible, with a curve to the sharpened edge that makes it ideal for skinning, though not terribly sturdy in combat. Its bone hilt is carefully shaped, curving out in the middle for a comfortable grip.

>app knife

You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
poor slice damage
poor impact damage

You are certain that the knife is well balanced and is poorly suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the harki knife is fairly sturdy, and is in pristine condition.

Yet it is sturdier than 90% of the "combat" LE's

Ooh, very interesting...so now I won't have to break a skinning knife if I automatically parry with it while arranging/skinning. Too bad it's all Elven-looking and stuff.

Or you could just go to knife clan and get a hunting knife.

As a Ranger I could, but per Ssra's post in the Ranger Guru folder on the skinning rewrite (granted things may have changed) a skinning knife is going to be needed for everyone else to get a high-quality skin. So my Paladin would do well to get one of these harki (aka skinning) knives since a wood troll almost destroyed his Rossgallan Keep gift skinning knife.

Uh, this isn't a skinning knife either. If you mean description of what it does, it is the same as the hunting knife but no, neither of them have skinning as an adjective.

Uh, yes it is a skinning knife. It's not literally "a skinning knife," but read the description:

a steel-bladed harki knife with a curved bone hilt
The blade is thin and flexible, with a curve to the sharpened edge that makes it ideal for skinning, though not terribly sturdy in combat. Its bone hilt is carefully shaped, curving out in the middle for a comfortable grip.

And the harci knife from the Elven tent at Theren Fest II:

a harci knife
The harci knife is long and slightly curved. The blade is thin and appears to be too fragile to be of much use in any activity other than skinning.

I believe they are saying that while it is a skinning knife in the description, the bonus is based off of the tap. So that if you can't 'get skinning knife' to pick it up, it doesn't count.

To clarify -- there is no bonus right now (unless it's any LE), it's from a post by Ssra on the skinning rewrite about a possible bonus in the future. And I have more faith in Ssra's coding abilities than to imagine that it will have to have "skinning" in the tap to be effective at skinning.

I've always used skinning and carving knives from Knife Clan for skinning and carving, respectively.

Just use the right tool for the right job...if there's a 'bonus' to using a skinning knife, so much the better.

Only rangers get the bonus messaging anyway.
