Heyo,
My quest for 100 in every weapon has fallen upon Short Staff and Quarterstaff. What's a cheap, lightweight, yet decent weapon for each?
Thanks in advance,
Arela

Believe branches/canes are 50 stones... lightened bo stick is a bit lighter I believe, and am pretty sure it teaches QS (might be shortstaff, but don't think so). For shortstaff, I hear the nightstick from hara is pretty good, but don't have any 1st hand experience with the weapon type.

The Hara'jaal Nightstick is one of the few short staff's actually sold and seems to be the reliable front runner. I would put it slightly ahead of the iron prybar sold a year or so back in Draughtman's Wagon. Still besides those two and whatever is sold in the crossing Barb shop, I think anything you might find would be from a fest and thus expensive. Hopefully Short staff will get some attention in the weapons rewrite, as it is its possibly one of the toughest skills to train (hee along with Staff Sling).

>>I'm told that the best QS for a newbie is the lightened bo stick from El'bain's.
If you don't have good strength and such, yes, definitely. Lightened bo stick (approx L5s) has the same stats with a lighter weight (I believe 10 stones less) than a standard bo stick (K3b from Milgrym, free from wood trolls in Baerholt's Orchard). One-handed quarterstaff, strikes from pole range. All bo sticks are no/no/mod.

As a moon mage, I want to be using a QS for one of my primary weapons. I love the way QS imbalance opponents and how quickly I gain balance with them. I am currently using a pike staff (moderate, low, moderate, I think) that I found on some creatures in Haven or Theren (I've been gone a while and can't remember). It's light enough to give me 1/3/3/3 roundtimes at 30 strength. My question is this: are there any better QS out there that I might use? I notice one poster mentioned a one-handed staff that hits at pole range? There must be something decent and light!
Also, I would like to request that GMs please make a lighter staff that does decent damage. All the staves at the new fest look to be average strength (better than flimsy, I guess, though not much) and weigh 50 stones. We mages have stringy, atrophied arms. I can't lift a tree trunk, ya know!

>Personally I prefer the pike staff type QS because I usually do more damage on the thrust and lunge. combo I use is thrust/sweep/chop/draw/swing and then throw in a lunge or go back to thrust depending on balance.
