I won this at the Platinum Token auction, and had some questions about it. It was said to be a lot better in the hands of a Kaldar, being a racial weapon and all. Perhaps my appraisal skill, or the non-Kaldar handling it's skill is too low to see the difference. I was wondering if anyone who'd won one in Prime could comment :)
A twin-bladed Kaldaran Warlord's slaughtersword is a two-handed edged melee-ranged weapon.
You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
severe slice damage
heavy impact damage
You are certain that the slaughtersword is dismally balanced and is well suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.
It weights 58 stones.
Oddly enough I bought a claymore at the festival that weighs 50 stones, and is equal in all areas, except a little less suitedness, but more puncture. A non-Kaldar appraised the slaughtersword identical to my Kaldar, except with a little less suitedness. I know tunneler axes are supposed to increase damage stats too or something right?
Did anyone else do any testing to see how much better it gets in the hands of a Kaldar? Just curious more than anything. The sword is a great RP tool even if it's not the best weapon around. Oh, and has anyone found any other verbs than turn slaughtersword, or tilt slaughtersword? Thanks in advance!

As with the other racial weapons, while the damage stats may change in the hands of the right race, it may not be enough to roll it into the next range descriptor. A better test would be to COMPARE them to a control weapon from both perspectives, and not the differences that way.

I did, and the base stats didn't change. Only the suitedness went up a little notch, and possible balance ever so slightly (I did cross comparisons with about 5 blades). I was told the item was a LOT better in the hands of a Kaldar, and using the tunneler axe as an example well,,, one can get their hopes up :P Is it possible that non-Kaldar cannot use the weapon at all?

I guess it depends on how both parties quantify "a LOT" and who the person was that told you that. During our Prime auction we were just told that it would be better in the hands of a Kaldar or it was more suited for a Kaldar or something like that not that it would be "a LOT" better in the hands of a Kaldar.
Perhaps they made a special Plat only one but you got the Prime one but if it is the same as the Prime model then what you found sounds accurate.
It has at least one verb which will only work correctly as a Kaldar, which has an RT, but so far that looks to be RP only however combat effect may not have been found yet.

>>Auctioneer Aquolous says, "MUCH better in the hands of a Kaldar"
The pronounced change a tunneler axe undergoes I guess set me up for a letdown heh. I understand the auctioneer really has no idea how much better something is, and has to go by what makes logical sense. MUCH could mean anything. Thankfully Plat has no great forgers of 2HE weapons - so this is still a very nice blade (fest claymores aside). I have to laugh when I see reports of people getting 36 stone bonecrushing slice claymores in Prime, geeesh!
On that note, it's too bad a system doesn't exist by which barbarians can improve festival weapons. It would once and for all end the lack of interest in "mundane" festival items, and I think alleviate a lot of complaints. You know, this blade looks awesome, but is lackluster in stats - let's get it anyways and have our local forger take a crack at improving it. Of course caps would be set on things to ensure balance. Ahh well, thanks for the response.

Alright so Oolan appeared and checked out the blade. Looks like the non-kaldar appraisals weren't set up, and so it wasn't going to have the pronounced difference of a tunneler's axe hehe. I'm glad I'm not nuts, and my appraisal isn't too shoddy!!

So what are the two different appraisals now? Or are they just sposed to be the same regardless of who uses it?

It wasn't something I could fix right then and there. It wasn't that it wasn't changing, but that it wasn't changing as much as was initially intended.
