or any pole-ranged weapon

From the tiny bit of testing I did.. you cant. Someone please tell me I'm wrong. It made sense to me that if you can charge to melee from pole with a melee-ranged weapon, you could charge to pole from missile with a pole-ranged weapon.

thanks all!

I have a really awesome idea for anyone that wants to attack from missile (because let's face it, that's what this is really about)...

Use a missile weapon.

Pole to Melee is about 15 -20 feet tops. Missile to Pole can conceivably 20 feet short of the entire room's size, which is likely a lot bigger than 40 feet.

Some people want non-missle weapons to actually be effective in PvP. A retreat\r macro is pretty easy to make.

What a sad story. Not sad enough to actually justify the proposed idea, but sad none the less.

I would rather the engagement system be rewritten to solve this problem rather than adding new functionality to further complicate an obviously troubled system.

In theory I would agree. In practice this just means that nothing will be changing for years. Like forging, or skinning, or any other system waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for a massive rewrite that no one wants to tackle.

To answer the question, charging in and of itself is from pole to melee only. No charging from missile, not even with a pole range weapon. The benefit to pole range weapons is that you can stand at pole range and hit your opponent, particularly helpful when facing opponents with only melee range weapons.

Is there a reliable way to keep things at pole range, without letting them advance to melee or retreat out of range?

Good brawling and shove is what my barb uses, other ways are being on the flank or behind the critter, or immobilizing the critter.

Hangback. It works really well too, especially in multi situations.

Gives that annoying 2 second RT though. And when you're hanging back from three or four creatures, you can get stuck in an RT loop. Or at least I do. My reflexes aren't great though.

I think the poster was kidding about hangback working well.

Wasn't asking for a change just wanted someone to spell it out for me that it wasn't possible.

thanks!
