Ok, beasts and oafs were perfect for me where I am right now. I'm getting over it, but I do need/want to find something comparable. I don't necessarily mind relocating for it.

I have large gaps in my skills which seem to make it a little tricky for me to find one place to cover most of them while staying alive.

No laughing at my neglected skills....I'm working on it!! :D
Shield 191
HP 191
HE 161
Parry 148
MO 148
Evasion 126

So, in beasts and oafs I could easily stand with 4 (using shield). Shield would lock within minutes. I honestly don't care that much about HP as I plan on it being my secondary armor going forward anyway. MO and Evasion locked easily as well. Parry was definitely learnable, though it could be a bit more painful to learn.

Since I could stand with shield I was able to train multiple armors (all other armors are under 100). I could also hit them with my secondary and tertiary weapons (2HE at 96 and ME at 74).

They weren't skinnable, but I can't skin at level anyway. I can deal with that separately. I would like something that drops loot, though boxes aren't necessary.

Basically, I was able to learn everything I needed and then some. Is there a hunting ground any of you can think of that might be comparable in my position?

Thanks in advance.

Snow gobs on Aesry. Thats where I just sent my moon mage. He was hunting those beasts and oafs until last night also. Snow gobs are teaching very well.

Thank you for the quick reply. Sounds interesting. I've never been to Aesry....maybe it's time for me to make that trip.

Are they easy enough to find/get to once there? My survival skills are pretty pathetic.

Should be easy enough.

And when you go to Aesry, be sure to train all of your skills to the same level as far as defenses. The higher you go with a large disparity in skills means you're gonna get smoked if you keep trying to move up to the next highest critter while some of your other defenses continue to lag behind. Snoblins are great for training up all of your skills in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tiers so they're all roughly even with each other.

i'd milk oafs/beasts for all they're worth, then head down to leth for the next step up in invasion undead.

Yes. This is what I was having so much luck with in beasts/oafs. It's been hard for me to find one central location where I could train parry, evasion and MO up to where they should be and and not completely neglect everything else. I made poor training decisions early on, then took a 2+ year break. I've been back a month or two trying to relearn everything and fix earlier mistakes. It will be a long road but I'm looking forward to evening everything out a bit.

Unfortunately, the beasts and oafs are gone. I'm assuming permanently this time. I don't want to move on to another invasion undead because I figure they're all headed in that direction sooner rather than later.

All of this input has been very helpful. Thanks a bunch.

Welcome back to DR :D

I agree with DGUTHRIE2. Try to balance out your defenses a bit more, even if that means neglecting the main skills for a while. You'll have an inifinitely easier time training at higher levels if all your defenses are up to par.

Aesry is awesome. I wish there was a better way to travel :(

Gonif,

Are you suggesting that a spell be written specifically to allow necromancers to move into an area protected by holy magic for the purpose of constructing a vulture heart candy trail for Khurek to follow?
