MO is starting to have problems getting past 15-16 in young gryphons, so I think it's getting close to time for me to find a new critter. I think Ratha celps would be the logical next choice. Would the below skills be enough? Also, is there anything that on the mainland that swarms, that is in the same range as celps? (Preferable either near box dropping mobs ~300 rank difficult boxes, or IS a box dropping mob ~300 difficult boxes).

I think Skeletal Sailors would be the best possibility for high level box droppers on Ratha?

Multi Opponent - 386.47
Parry Ability - 362.19
Light Crossbow - 355.96
Brawling - 305.88
Offhand Weapon - 305.81
Medium Edged - 305.79
Light Thrown - 305.78
Light Edged - 305.60

Leather Armor - 356.65
Shield Usage - 339.42
Light Chain - 332.98
Heavy Chain - 305.49

Stalking - 493.22
Perception - 474.39
Hiding - 470.28
Skinning - 461.88
Evasion - 446.38
Backstab - 400.47

Adult kra'hei are probably a better choice for boxes.

Have you tried orc raiders? They will lock your evasion at 500+ and would get your lower defences/weapons up to celp level (~400?).

Orc Raiders are what I use now for boxes, but aren't near swarmy enough.

Technically, 15-16/34 is fine for skills. I can you personally from what I remember in that range that just about everything will rip you in half. Welcome to the beginning of a 2 months in this creature or 2 months in that creature. Young Gryphons have taught countless people to 450's in defenses, also keep in mind your a thief and armor is your tert skill, so unless you want to over-train evasion to compensate for other defenses, I'd wait for your weapons to cross 400 and your defenses to cross 400 otherwise you'll be dieing so much you won't make gains in anything.

..insert brilliant whitty comment here.

I know this was an old post but why start a new one on the same subject? I'm trying to figure out when I can move to celpz from Gryphons. I'm a Barbarian and so I can keep badjer as I hunt and I plan to keep training stealth as much as I can. Up till now I have been circling with LX partly because I like it and part because it takes longer to lock via poach/snap and normal shots with my script so it sits on it longer thus working it longer.

Shield Usage: 356 Leather Armor: 363
Parry Ability: 368 Multi Opponent: 364
Heavy Edged: 318 Twohanded Edged: 330
Light Crossbow: 331 Light Thrown: 282
Heavy Thrown: 156 Brawling: 306
Offhand Weapon: 279 Evasion: 369
Perception: 322 Hiding: 343
Stalking: 337 Skinning: 287
Appraisal: 227

Strength : 35 Reflex : 35
Agility : 40 Charisma : 30
Discipline : 40 Wisdom : 30
Intelligence : 30 Stamina : 35

Concentration : 200 Max : 200

I think it will come down to when can I poach Celpz with light stealth hinder due to arm shield and armor. Someone had said with my set up 380 defenses I could do it but i'm not really sure about that tho I feel I am pretty well rounded for my circle.

i don't know if your defenses would give you enough bonus yet. i have about 100 more ranks than you do in evasion and i'm still wary of taking on celps at this point. you should still be able to get your defenses up a bit more before you take them on. if young gryphs don't teach you should still be able to do mature, elder gryphs, as you are using ranged.

You'll want 400+ defenses before even Rathan celpeze. Kresh celpeze are even further away.

I was in ratha celps with as low as 350s shield/parry. I occasionally lost an arm, or leg. Sometimes a chest. But I also am survival prime, so had almost 500 evasion. (This was with khri and much higher reflex/agility).

Also, you'll have been significantly higher circle and have commensurately greater attributes (Agility and Reflex being the key here) than Heitak.

I suppose I should have been more specific: "As a Barbarian, you will want around 400 in all of your defenses including MO before trying Rathan celpeze. You will want somewhat more for Kresh celpeze due to their swarming tendencies."

I've always found that a minimum of 400 in all combats will get you in the door, and it's just enough to have you carried out in a box. 450's is usually better for kresh celpeze.

I'm still learning pretty well in Young gryphons so I'll ride out as long as I can, I have a feeling if I wait till 400 in weapons I will have 425+ in defenses and 40+ agili/reflex if not 45+. It sounds like the way I train I should be able to jump from gryphs to Celpz as long as I stay well rounded and keep badger up. Thank for the info.

I'd let all the other weapons catch up with your crossbow, hiding as you go. This will push your hiding up a little bit. I don't think you'll be able to hide much (at melee at least) on the Celps. with it lagging behind as it does.

Heitak, I'm running a barbarian as well, and hunting at about the same level. I'm having trouble getting my armors up to level, even though shield, parry, and evasion range between 446 to 467, my highest armor is only 379. Because I'm training all weapons, they're really low, but I recently tried to survive in celps on kresh and failed. I got hit way too often for my taste. I'll keep you posted as I continue to try them out. Once I get all weapons to 250, I'll be focusing on getting more well rounded/balanced.

I was dancing Badger for the first, oh, 100 ranks of Evasion I was in celpeze.

The transition from gryphons to zombie stompers seems to be a lot smoother based on what I've seen. Also, Rathan celps are identical to south barricade celps except they don't arrive in packs, making them a bit more survivable.

I'd highly recommend going there first if you're making the transition from gryphons directly. Just take your gweths off.

I'll probably try to go directly to celps when i transition because zombie stompers are undead, and i can't use my magic on undead. except if i make them undead. :-).

You happen to know offhand if ratha celps is considered a justice zone?

If you're in Rossman's gryphons and they slow down, orc raiders next door work great to bridge the gap to celps/stompers. Gryphons will hard cap at 500, but raiders will go beyond that.

All celps spawn in justice areas where you can be accused and hounded (hunting celps was actually the first time I ever got purged). They are special justice zones where you do not get in trouble for most AoE or spells for most guilds. I didn't try any spells other than viv while I was there, but pretty sure they are a no no.

Raiders will go beyond that if you milk the crap out of them, but if you're nearing 500 you're better off in celps. Raiders won't teach you decently much past 500.

True for Kresh and the guilds that have guildhalls on the island (interestingly enough). Not true whatsoever for Ratha last time I was there.

Oh true. I should have mentioned I have no experience with Ratha celps. I went and tried to test them out but stood around never finding any so I left the area to play on Kresh for a while.

Dragon Priest Purifiers are a fantastic stop-gap between gryphons and celpeze. I stayed in purifiers until about 500 shield/evasion and haven't had many problems in celpeze since.

The shalswars are fine, its the priests that come them that are the problem, what's it take to kill those or not get lit on fire by them?

I wasn't getting hit by them with 465 evasion, hitting them though was a different story, as my offensive skills lag behind my defenses. A situation I am seeking to rectify.
