So, here we are, ready for a new thread?
I saved you guys some work and read the last pages of this topic but i still have some questions...
DRplat lists young gryphons at 200-310 in offense and 200-325 in defense. Is this accurate? If it is, then i'll need to find a new hunting area soon.
Whats there after young gryphons that swarms, drops gems and coins and is skinnable?
What do you suggest? Guild is barbarian, weapons are Medium, Heavy and Twohanded Edged, brawling and HT.
Skills are still moving great in young gryphons but will probably slow down in the next 2 weeks so i'd like to have the next plan ready :D
Most important of all, creatures need to swarm so that i dont spend half the time looking for new ones and can keep IF for 2 berserks. Next, need to be able to skin them so that skinning doesnt fall too far behind the combat skills. Third, money ;)
Dolomars. According to DRplat, Retan Dolomars swarm, drop gems and are skinnable. They're also resistant to slice attacks... which might make them hard to train with.
Are they a viable at-level hunting ground for training edged weapons?
Adan'f Warriors and Mages. Do they swarm? I prefer to stay in the same room and passively wait for the next creatures while i juggle or do origami.
Is this still a viable place for the last 330-350 range?
Orc Raiders. These are popular and i guess they'll do good for money and training. I'd like something like this, but skinnable as well.
Germish'din. Do they break shields? Do they swarm?
Celpese. According to DRplat they range from 350 to 620 ranks. Is this accurate? Can i really safely hunt them at 350? Around what ranks are they safe at? How much skinning is needed to learn from them?
Anything i missed? Maybe some of the newer creatures? Please let me know your suggestions and tips :D
Thanks in advance!

I can't imagine it's accurate. Weapons do move relatively slowly for me in gryphons in the low 300s, but I can definitely get them into high mindstates. My defenses around 320 lock very quickly.
>Orc Raiders, Germish'din, Celpeze...
You won't be able to handle any of these. I'd recommend Bristle Backs up in Rossmans or out on M'Riss until you can hit Raiders.

Bristles on M'riss are probably a bad idea because of the Hunters. If you're shooting for Raiders though might as well go to Rossmans and hunt bristles. They'll teach from 300's to 400's. I got tired of them around 370 though and moved to raiders. I had to curse them to hit them (damn parry) but it works.

I agree, recently moved to bristle back pecs at Rossmans because HE was taking a while to lock in gryphons at 315. They don't pay well, but I can handle 2 no problem with 360 shield, 320 parry, 255 evasion as a paladin, and 3 starts to get light hits on me. Only downside is that I"m having trouble locking multi without getting a bit beat up.
Any idea what it takes to start learning from skinning failures in bristle back pecs and stop cutting myself? Only have 170 skinning and 36 agility at the moment, wondering if a skinning CJ or some extra agility would give me enough skill to learn from the failures without injury.
Also when could I expect to move up to raiders? Appreciate any advice and I hope this helps the original poster, thanks in advance.

If you feel any of the entries in the DRPlat site are innacurate please click the EDIT link and replace them with your values. Keep in mind there is a delay while an admin checks for vulgarity. Thanks!

Yeah, bristlebacks are a great step up from young gryphons. Their spawn in Rossman's is usually very good and consistent due to the large number of hunters. The only downside is (it seems) that EVERY SINGLE PERSON THERE uses stealth, and it stinks if you're more of a roving-hunt-and-kill-er than a camp-one-spot type of player.
However, I'm STILL trying to find something to step up from bristlebacks that is skinnable and doesn't parry (grr, raiders!). I'm tempted to jump to celpeze and rely on bardic hax, but I'm going to test out dolomars first. (bristlebacks slowed down considerably after around 370 in weapons)

200 - 225 to do it, just use a skinning knife in the beginning.

SHYGOAT<<<However, I'm STILL trying to find something to step up from bristlebacks that is skinnable and doesn't parry>>>
From bristles I switched between basilisks and seords. Neither one parry. Basilisks took me to about 450 before they slowed down. Seords slowed around 480 because of the slow spawn rate.

Great, so bristles it will be :)
Its going to be so hard to leave gryphons tho... i love them things! Tonight they're particularly fun to play with:
You assess your combat situation...
You (nimbly balanced) are facing a young forest gryphon (5) at melee range.
A young forest gryphon (3: solidly balanced) is moving behind you at missile range.
A young forest gryphon (4: solidly balanced) is moving behind you at missile range.
A young forest gryphon (5: solidly balanced) is facing you at melee range.
A young forest gryphon (7: incredibly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
A young forest gryphon (8: nimbly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
A silver-tipped mature forest gryphon (9: off balance) is behind you at melee range.
A young forest gryphon (10: nimbly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
A young forest gryphon (11: nimbly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
A young forest gryphon (12: solidly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
A young forest gryphon (13: nimbly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
A young forest gryphon (14: nimbly balanced) is behind you at melee range.
so... 10 melee and 2 advancing from missile... i dont know if they ever managed to reach melee or stopped before that. The scroll was too hard to keep up with!
Kill kill kill kill... when i was down to 6 or so...
A young forest gryphon saunters in, its paws slapping the ground heavily.

Being a berserker, i couldnt retreat... these were some intense hunting minutes (they were hunting me!)
Luckily there were not many matures, i've been swarmed by 6+ matures and a bunch of youngins at the same time once and they kept me on my back 75% of the time. Add that to the fact that they kept flying out of my reach and the result was a dead tog! :D
I was in the water room with 3 exits... dont really like that room cuz it doesnt let me inhale my hulnik grass :(
