Anyone have a definite number on what ranks Fledgling and Young Gryphons stop teaching weapons? I know that the Young Gryphons will teach longer than the Fledglings, so I am looking for a rough idea/benchmark.

i was able to take HE to 380 ranks there as a barb.
i could still learn after that but it was too slow.
defenses much higher, i think i was still locking parry at around 500. i forget the exact rank they stopped.
probably harder now because this was before engagement cap of 4 on them so you could just sit there with 7 or 8 to lock it quick

I overtrained my defenses so I basically went straight to celpeze after I was done with gryphons.
I did stop in dragon priest purifiers by Ravens Gate for a circle or two but I could of avoided it.
The purifiers were teaching me pretty well (parry > 500, multi > 400, weapons high 300s) but can't skin them so I eventually left.
Basiliks will also work but the gen there is kind of slow. If you're a barb I wouldn't recommend raiders. They parry too much and by the time you can get through their parry they don't teach that much. Plus they don't attack a lot so defensive training is slow.
Seords up in theren are pretty good, hara didn't have enough to make it interesting.

Well, I was the only one in Ratha celps, so the most I was able to get on me at once was 3. I was able to handle them fine, though I can't speak to dancing with 4.
My defenses are all 20-30 ranks above my weapons too. To answer the question more straightforward, no I don't think I'd need much more in the way of defenses to handle 4 celps at melee. From my observations, the closer you can get to 400 multi before you make the jump, the better.
To be even more straightforward, yes, it is definitely possible to jump straight from fledgling/young gryphons to celps without any issues.

It takes a bit, but I can still lock weapons at 415 ranks (though I use Rage of Clans which might bump learning ease).

>Straightforward post
I appreciate the information. I am confident I will stay in fledgling/young until 400 in defenses, they are an impressive training area. I thought about trying bristle backs, but the gryphons were doing so well I wanted to try and get an idea of how long they might last.
My present training style hasn't really let my defenses surmount my weapon ranks, but knowing what I need for celps will allow me (for the better) to change that approach.
