i find that although i can learn skinning in <baby> gryphons, i can't hide from them <and my skinning is lower than my hiding>. any idea on a critter that will train at approx 276 hiding/255 stalk?

Interestingly enough, i Can hide from adan'fs on occasion, but i can't seem to hit those, and they appraise harder than the baby gryphons.

I don't think it's necessarily the baby gryphons that are your problem. You may have one fledgling, and they, being English and thus equipped with monocles, have better perception. At 275 hiding you really ought to be able to hide at pole weapon range without serious problems, though.

It's almost as if creature perception isn't based solely on their offensive ability.

instead of a snarky comment, how about a constructive suggestion on a critter? if you are capable of being constructive and not snarky.

Hey, even with 90 disc, I could barely hide on Geni before their teaching slowed down. Adan'f are good teachers, you're probably only 25 ranks away from riding that experience wave for 100 ranks. I would think that red leucs might work for you in your current range though.

Some critters are more perceptive than their actual combats. Some are less perceptive than their actual combats.

Also don't be afraid of using hiding/stalking boosting abilities/spells it doesn't lower learning unless its a debuff on the critter.

they do. and quite well. unfortunately there's a 150th ranger that has forbidden me from hunting there <it's his "back yard"> on pain of death. or undeath as it were.

<character is a necro, with all abilities pertaining to that guild, except for the last "slip">

No, he won't do anything to you. If you'd read the Plat boards, you'd know he refuses to interact with your characters anymore.

It turns out that griping about everything on the boards has its positives at times.

Tyr won't bother you, either.

Necrogonif sounds like exactly the kind of thing I left Plat to avoid. That, and you know, excessive bleeding of my wallet.

It's been posted multiple times that gryphons are perceptive. But furthermore, you've been around way too long to pretend you don't understand how stealth works. If you don't like game mechanics, it's ok to complain, but don't do it in a passive aggressive fashion, please.

With any type of a boost at all you should be able to hide on baby gryphons or adanf.

Flavius can do it with almost the same ranks, wearing light chain. If you can't....well then I don't know what the problem is.

Clerics are just so cuddly you can't get mad at them, until they try to rip your soul out and chew on it like a candy bar.
