How exactly does one get down to the warklin level on Poke beach?

I'm fairly sure it's some kind of quicksand that drags you down. That's all I really remember about it though.

I'm the lucky soul with the treasure map that requires me to get down to warklins.
Everyone I've talked to that's been down there has mentioned something vague about sand pits, sandstorms, quicksand, etc, but nobody can ever remember exactly how, when, or where. I spent three hours total wandering and waiting in the dolomar-only area as well as the malchata area, and nothing.
Does anyone know the specifics of getting there?

Getting there from the quick sand, in the dolomar area, seems to have some skill check you that you have to fail to get caught by it.. The easiest way for me now to get there is to go into malchata and hide, eventually they will cast some spell that sucks you into the ground and leaves you prone and stunned in the warklin area..
