A morah creeper coils itself completely around your neck landing an apocalyptic strike (So that's what it felt like when Grazhir shattered!).
[You're very badly hurt, incredibly balanced and overwhelming your opponent.]

Is this really working as intended? Over and over and over again they hit me with that and it's always "apocalyptic" strikes. And it seems completely unavoidable. I lose about 20% vitality from it and so I'm constantly doing the retreat/wait for vitality dance because for some reason they have this super ability now. I don't recall them ever being this vicious when I first hunted them on either of my Rangers. They had this ability but it was never so impossible to dodge or avoid.
I'm at 85 shield/parry 95 evasion Warrior Mage with SuF up
reflex/agility 18
Once 4 start doing this, vitality drops impossibly fast. Just doesn't seem right to me.

I know, that was the first thing I said when I saw those stats... this is me trying to help out with my friend's character
I do need to try with my WarMage still who has a bit higher reflex/agility.
But still 85/95 shield/evasion (when the bottom cap is 70 according to elanthipedia) and no hits (and not more than brushing when there's 4) by any of their regular attacks but that one special attack hits for apocalyptic? It's very painful.

Well, I'm at a loss. How much stats should a character have at circle 20? I may have overestimated my own WarMage's stats since they're only sitting at 19 agil 20 reflex and not much different at all in the skill ranks...and still apocalyptic strikes. I don't care if they hit, good light even whatever is above good but to hit that hard consistently is absurd for vines. At least gargoyles are known to hit hard "consistently" throughout all their attacks, not just their special one. And this special attack happens a lot. Just sucks to drop from 100 to 40 vitality eventually from it, but whatever not such a big deal in the long run if I watch closely.
I also sincerely doubt it's a messaging error, considering how much vit I do lose per hit.

Once I got over 100, their attack seemed a bit weaker and I was able to hunt there longer before retreating to herb up. You could also try killing them a bit faster to keep only 3 on you, it's the fourth one that really gets you; but that also takes around 100 weapons...
You could always come back to the area, they keep teaching really fast up to around 130. I went to serpents.

Yeah Ill second the come back after 100. I stayed in blood wolves till they pushed me over 100 in my defenses (in fact 110ish range) before I went into vines/creepers. Even now in the 140s in defenses and mid 20s in relevant stats they still hit me with that special attack though its never more then glancing. It just seems the attack is very accurate and might be bypassing some defense checks, but it can be negated.
