What to fight with 190 weapons but only 120 defenses? Training LE. on 11/10/2014 01:02 PM CST
Hey guys. I came back from a long sleep and something tells me my heavy edge and medium edge were combined or something. So my heavy edge needs work to level me to 50 and that's 190 ranks. However my evasion 110 shield 118 and parry 136 are all much lower as is my armor. Leather 100 and chain 115.
Any ideas? I wanna get to level 50 for aether cloak to train warding while I go back and backtrain the other skills I want to carry forwards (5 other weapons along with perception, lock picking, appraisal and tactics.)
Thanks
Ligian

Spend the time hunting something to catch your defenses up a bit. It will slow your circling a little but be beneficial in the end. Cyclics are not free spell xp anymore anyhow so you would have to recast AC to learn warding, so you are not missing out as much as you think. Get your defenses to 150ish and then cast SW and SUF to bridge the gap. I would suggest training in brocket deer at that range because it will let you pop up a tier to work offenses if you wish as needed. But upping defenses should be a bigger priority IMO.

I think his point was to do just that. But he wants to get AC asap for training while he begins the 80 ranks of catch up for his defenses.
Depending on how far down your weapons are from 190, I'd probably suggest classes? Or maybe, with SW and SUF and MAF, quartz gargs if you're premium? Brocket deer maybe?

You will still get a lot of training out of AC if you are willing to recast it, so I'd say it's not a bad plan.
I will echo Krooner's suggestion to use classes. Keep in mind that you can learn weapon classes in combat, so this can happen while you are backtraining those defenses. You could also try black leucros, or maybe la'tami or frostweyr bears -- just keep in mind that you may not be able to find a critter that works. That is a pretty large gap.
That said, WMs are one of the most survivable classes. You will want Sure Footing, Swirling Winds, and Aegis of Granite up at all times. Also try keeping Manifest Force up (it will wear off after you get hit 6 times). If you need to rechoose spells, you can still forget spells by visiting Fleintoore at the spell library in Throne City.
Also pay VERY close attention to your burden (it should be at None) and hindrance. I'd wear only leather for your lowest possible hindrance.
