So, after getting my unarmored self killed once, I played with the storm bulls a little. The gen is great and they seem to have gained some new spells and abilities (or maybe I just didn't see them before). They seem a lot meaner too.

A couple problems:

* They backfire Swirling Winds most of the time. It's also odd that they use lunar mana although both of their spells are elemental...

A storm bull flicks its mist-tipped tail, tossing its horns with a snort.
A soft crackle briefly comes from a storm bull's direction.

* They have three nose rings now:

You search the storm bull.
It carried a heavy iron nose ring, a heavy iron nose ring, a heavy iron nose ring.
It carried nothing of interest.

Aside from SW what other spells and abilities did you see?

ES (which they can 'group-cast' on all bulls in the area), and there was another spell they were backfiring (they have different 'gesture' messaging for each spell) which I didn't stay long enough to see. They can also parry with their horns.

And then this:

>attack
As your silver-edged scimitar lands, a bright blue-white light flares around the storm bull, and a sharp CRACK of electricity discharges through the metal scimitar.
The jolt travels through your body, making it convulse in pain!

Every bull seems to have a one shot of that, but after about six of them my nerves were fried to "difficulty controlling actions" level. Quite nasty.

Yeah, it seems to be a ranged or War Mage creature.

ES protects from that.

At least ES stacks for a very long time, makes getting one then going in there do-able for us non warmies. Could be far worse.

Hah! Amazing how well they can control the elements. Well maybe us mages can learn how to do similar things in the future. Defensive static discharge bwahaha!

Now I think I see why the GEN sucked for so long. They weren't done making the bulls.

At first I thought they were an anti mage creature, because of their ability to absorb elemental magic.

Just from reading the log, now it looks like they are a mage creature, because we need ES to hunt them....

I was thinking this was going to be a great creature, if the gen was ever fixed, now I'm not so upset that its not a ranger area. They went right back to being something I wouldn't hunt.

We really need a ranger hunting area+creature, much like the Geni area, but higher level.

Some other things I'd like to see are high level creatures, with lower level boxes. Like a Malchata level creature (or higher), with fendryad/geni level boxes.

(actually, there's other ways to avoid the storm bull's zap... Think about what you were doing with that scimitar).

And thanks for letting us know about the extra nose rings - that should be fixed in all instances.

I would like to point out that, unless you're a Barbarian or Thief, you have the option of buying an ES scroll on Ratha.

I know that's not what someone wants to hear, but hey - I don't like that I can't skin a snowbeast that teaches weapons from 60-90 ranks with 110 skinning and 30 agility either.

Use the actual DRAW/SWEEP/SLICE/CHOP commands to avoid it, maybe?

Could we make it so MERE will enhance the electrical properties of the bulls?

Maybe some other enchante could screw up their electricity somehow - PYRE/CARE maybe? Someone with a physics degree step in and make something up.

Or, maybe we can have the Song of Endless Repeats that will bounce everything they do back unto them.

the "it" in this sentence is not a typo is it? If not than it looks like making it release electricity hurts the bull, so finding a way to make it release it's electricity without it traveling through your body would make sense....how to do that with a melee weapon is beyond me tho.

Wooden weapons? Has anyone tried using a nonmetal melee weapon on these puppies? I would hope a quarterstaff (or mace, hammer, axe, etc.) wouldn't conduct electricity well enough to deliver a jolt to the wielder.

The antecedent of "it" is "your body." You got shocked. You're the one in pain. There's no typo.

The shop used to sell ES scrolls way back in the day when Fire Shard scrolls were still there, but they're both long since gone. I've just verified in game that it wasn't recently added in Prime at the very least. An Iheaneu'a Shield Brooch sold at that shop, however, could be for ES, but that's just a guess on my part. Even if it were, at around 7.5 plat lirum a pop for limited charges, it isn't exactly a bargain.

ES isn't sold anymore? Wow, that's kind of surprising. There should be a merchant in Ilaya, like "a mage" or something, that sells ES scrolls.

That depends entirely upon the sort of people to whom you are referring. Also, as Axillus said, you do refer to a body with the neuter pronoun.
