It's probably more fair to say Aardwolf is a lot more proactive about getting people to vote. As it stands, the only real efforts to have people vote on DR's side are through player efforts. There's no in-game reminder/encouragement except a button on the web client (I think?).
DR would have numbers around Aardwolf if we got like a fifth of our daily players voting, and I'm probably underestimating how many votes a fifth of DR's daily active playerbase would add up to.
Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

Oh, I know. I'm just saying that an automated/in game alert would be seen by more people, which would produce better results. Having it on epedia/here is good, but not as primary sources of votes.

Assuming these graphs are correct, Aardwolf has a greater population/more active than DR with a big spike in winder-spring 2012. Wonder what they did there.

Anyone visiting the site who is new or returning to MUDs would be inclined to try one of the top 5. For some reason the majority of regulars believe DR consists of 15 players who pay for 50 accounts each :P Knocking off the top tier MUDs would show them we have numbers and are motivated and involved.
At the very least, it is something every person can do to further our cause!

even at a 1% clickthrough rate, we'll hopefully bring in a few fresh faces. I don't think our push should be to reestablish the web migration numbers... that boat may have sailed, but every good player that comes is a welcome addition. And honestly, without aiming for snark, I'd wager the effect from voting would be more positive than the effect from not voting. I don't expect us to place 1st on that chart. We cost, they don't, they "accentuate" their numbers, we don't... but the higher on that list we are, the more people out click on us, and hopefully, the more good roleplayers for you and I.

That makes sense. Agreed! My lack of awareness was all that was keeping me from voting as I stayed away from the boards for a long while and wasn't informed. Now I have a shortcut directly on my desktop to make it easy to vote daily. The reminders here are awesome too, kudos to those furthering the cause!

My bet is that a combination of nostalgia and emerging markets with technological sacrifices, will result in a resurgence of the MUD community someday :)

I watched a short video on Aardwolf the other day - and DR is way way more immersive than Aardwolf. They do have some nice features like their maps, their IG maps look great. But their NPC's seem more like you are playing Nintendo. Like Type "list" to show my wares. basically all their NPCs are completely OOC.
Anyone talk to the genie creator to see if they would add a vote link to genie? I think that would help a lot. I wonder if a GM could run a query of everyone logged in and see what FE everyone is using. Is genie on top?

Another idea - I think crafting is at a point you could really advertise it on the MUD site. I randomly ran into an old post on their forum of someone looking for a MUD with a good crafting system. Are we over half way? It seems there is still a lot to do, but there certainly is a lot released now.

Back to topic though - I'll send an email to Connie. I posted on the genie boards the other day and got responses from people pretty quickly so people are pretty active on the boards too, wouldn't hurt to post there. A plugin is a great idea

This isn't us, but another MUD that was using the name Dragon Realms (with a space). They seem defunct now, but if that summary is still showing up somewhere, let me know and I can alert the TMS guy. He killed their entry when it was obvious that their game hadn't been open or even worked on for a few years.
