Could someone briefly explain what this is? Or point me to a page where there is info on this

I saw someone mention this on the Suggestions For New Guilds board. But that was a bit far back. Or are the changes being implemented into regular Dragonrealms? Should we expect new guilds?

DR2 is a new game released by Simutronics in mid-2004. It uses a highly sophisticated game engine to find and delete scripters, snerts, and career policy-breakers (yes, the justice system got a major upgrade/expansion). It incorporates a TTS engine, allowing GMs to simply describe via english language exactly the system/item/area/critter they want; in addition, the game engine can fix existing systems/items/areas/critters as well as adjust them on-the-fly. This frees up more time for the GMs to roleplay and just hang out with the players (staff, be aware that the game engine also has a reporter module that is able to sack you for slacking off or misbehaving). It was shown at a previous 'Con that the game engine could also run GMPCs, but a tricky bug was discovered during the presentation and that capability had to be rolled out of all instances until a fix was found...(still reading? Sheesh, I thought you'd have gotten the joke by now!)

Seriously, DR2 is a rather big misnomer. DR2 refers to the game engine (Iffy 2.0) that has the capabilities necessary for all the projects we have in limbo to be implemented. It was released in mid 2004 as an upgrade to the existing games, so if you're still logging in to play DR you are actually playing DR2.

J'Lo, no that other one

I thought that might be the case(the second explanation, not the first, though the first would nice) Were there any announcements concerning new guilds?

A new guild, Necromancers, has been under development for a few years, but there's no ETA as far as I can tell. There's a thread devoted to Necros in the "Dragonrealms II" boards.
