And i imaging ships will be pretty darn expensive, so the pirates would have to get together and form they're own kinda clan to run the ship and pay for it. also maybe hunting and poaching whales, sea monsters, etc and selling them? diving for treasure on Taisdon off the ships?

At what point during all this would any member of such a pirate guild play the existing game of Dragonrealms?

well they do have to buy things, and hunt, train and such... Being a Pirate doesn't mean you live ona boat and stay on it forever. You would do as anyone else, but as a RPer run a boat with a crew, tis what pirates to... plunder trader boats or any thing else they feel the need to take?
