I'm only able to access the boards through the beta version today. Did I miss an announcement or something about the old boards going bye-bye?

Yep, that same thing. I haven't tried to start fresh. I just close out of it and use the Beta boards.

I am having the same problem too. I even purged my cache, tried seperate browsers, rebooted, the whole nine yards.... :sniffles at the old boards:

I had the same thing happen. Thought it was my computer acting up as usual, went back and deleted all my "temporary internet files", and it was still doing the same thing....

And I thought I was the only one. I was just about to do an FDISK and reinstall windows. Nothing else had worked.

I'm with you on this as well. I think the old boards look better, and a lot faster to use.

Because the system is loading each and every new post in one lump instead of requesting one at a time.

Which is exactly why I always thought they were faster since I only had to wait once for my painfully slow computer to load them rather than having to read a post, wait forever for the next to load...and so on. I personally like the newer boards a whole lot more than the old ones.

There was a 'Show All posts' per topic on the old boards.

I always loaded up all new posts from all folders at once, at it was much faster on the old boards for me. For one thing, it seems like these boards don't save the graphics or anything on your hard drive, I seem to have to load up everything fresh (like that play.net forums graphic at the top) each time I open the boards even though I have my browser settings set to save page info for 20 days.

Don't know what exactly causes it, but the old boards loaded up much faster for me, and were easier to navigate.

The old boards appear to be DOA, not sure why. Unfortunately I can't get into my work area from home at this moment, else I'd take the 5 minutes it would take to fix. Sighs. Tomorrow they shall return.

Heya folks.

Just a couple of things as I read through this thread:

Options is your friend :)

1. For Windows IE 4+/NS 5+ and Mac IE 5+ users only.
When Collapsed, only the Author and Subject of the message is displayed. When Expanded, the entire message is displayed. Clicking on the Author or Subject of the message switches the view for that message.

This should help with a large screed of text on loading. I find my boards load very fast with just the headers.

2. Set up your filters

3. If you scan the post headers and dont want to read any more, above and below the list of messages is a directory tree e.g. All Forums/DragonRealms/Discussions with Dragonrealms Staff and Players.

Click on the Category and mark the folder you no longer want to read as read. This is also where you can ignore a folder.

The mechanics are slightly different in usage but the features are mostly all there.

I did a little bit of mucking about and you can ignore the windows colours and choose your own for certain bits (Tools/Internet Options/General/Fonts) and then you can make windows ignore the colours on the web page, and refer back to your preferred colours ((Tools/Internet Options/General/accessibility). But I lost all the lines dividing up the table ::grin:: but it did change the colour of the post subject text. It looked ick to me. I havent played with Stylesheets. However, that may be an option you guys can play around with.
