I did not see this as an option in the documentation. What is its status in DR3.0? I know Dirvish is an improved whirlwind, but is there a normal whirlwind without it?

Whirlwind and other attacks will be added as 1-slot maneuver abilities, and tied heavily into the new Expertise system under development. Expertise will not be grandfathered or available for training when 3.0 goes live, but I expect it ready early next year.

Thank you Kodius for your quick response. I wait with baited breath for its release. Since I bonded my Sterak Axe and have a bonded Tunneler's Axe, whirlwind, with its 2 to 8 attacks trains REAL WELL.

You know with 2hweaponsns I an only attack a maximum of 4 times. How about letting 4 critters get tmêléeee and 4 to pole again? If not how about an experience bonus for using a 2 handed weapon when whirling?

AFAIK, most magical multi-hit attacks have a cap on how much exp they give. I think whirlwind is a great combat move, but if you're looking at it strictly through a "this is how I lock my weapon skills fast" lens, you'll probably be disappointed in the long run. It will either have a cap on how well it teaches and/or a higher roundtime that reflects the multiple hits being done and/or very notable fatigue hit.

It already has a longer round time, double that of a slice attack (6 seconds) and a huge defensive penalty afterwards. I would not argue with increasing the RT.

When whirlwind came out, you could have 4 critters at melee and 4 at pole. This meantnt with a melee range weapon in each hand you got 4 attacks with each weapon at the 4 critters at pole. 8 attackes. With a pole range two handed weapon in the above case, you still got 8 attacks.. 4 at the melee critters and 4 at the pole ones. Then they tweaked critters so only 4 would advance you, along with a significant change to Multi Opponents.

I am hoping that with this change, the issue would be addressed. This could be done by allows 4 critters to advance to melee and 4 to pole. Or an experience bonus could be added to a whirlwind attack with a 2 handed weapon and leave the way critters advance alone.
