As a moon mage perspective here moongate is also a touch on the difficult side now compared to 2.0 version. In 2.0 all you had to do was hold crap loads of mana... in 3.0 you can just plain backfire (due to casting difficulty) before you make the spell connect to a beam.

Im sure the mileage varies per person. I know I can port anywhere to anywhere on the mainland with 3.0 MG with a 25 prep and I couldnt with 2.0 MG unless I was holding 100+ mana. And I dont figure I need to describe just how unpractical that is heh.
