Ok, I've paid the 3 plat for a home and all I need to do is type HOME CLAIM where I want to buy a home (if one is available in the room I'm standing)? I have no control over what home I want to buy, it's random? Also, say a home is in a Halfling-only area. Is this to say only halflings on my account may have access to the home? The other races on my account won't be able to use it?

Not sure on this one, as I believe my house happened to be the only unclaimed one in the area at the time. Could've sworn I had to specify the house I was claiming, though, but it's been way too long to recall properly.

Racial and guild limitations are only in effect for claiming the home. Once claimed, anyone on your account can use it as though they owned the place. From there, the only restriction on home stuff is that the actual, claiming character who got the deed from the clerk is the only one who can buy furniture and maybe do the various HOME verb stuff (I don't remember about the latter part).

Ok, so an elven character was the one who paid the 3 plat, so only that elven character can claim the home then? One of my premie halflings can't? Would've been nice to know before I made the purchase, unless I missed something. Is there a way to reverse it so that I can buy the home in the halfling-only area?
If the home is an elf-only home and you paid the 3 plat with the elf, yes. Said elf cannot go into the halfling-only area and claim a home that is halfling-only, however.
As for fixing the mistake, you will probably have to pay another 3-9 plat (not sure about the exact steps involved) but you might be able to deed the house, give the deed to the halfling, who can then claim the home in the halfling area.

Well there is a Trader only area up near Dirge. Upper class rural area. As far as claiming a home, I think there is a list that you choose from if there are several available. I play other simu games as premium so not sure if this info is accurate or not, but I think it is HOME CLAIM # (# being the house available number that you want to claim).
