I don't post often but this was a really nice release so big props on all the effort that went into this place. I do have a couple questions if you don't mind:

1) Wickett mentioned last night that were are some nasty creatures in the jungle (I'm guessing beyond the wall out the east gate) and your post mentioned hunting areas that have yet to be filled so can we expect some high to very high end hunting in this area?

2) Will boats be able to learn how to sail to Fang Cover's dock as a possible destination (similar to Ratha, Riverhaven, etc)?

3) Seeing as Fang Cove is on the mainland (appears somewhere SE of p5 so guessing Ilithi coast based on what we gathered) will this ever be accessible from the mainland instead of having to travel so far to get there? I see alot of potential for events exploring the jungle, finding new creatures and a route to this place from the mainland somehow amongst many other things.

My biggest fear is being so remote requiring 2 boat rides and all the effort that went into this place that it won't be as utilized as it deserves. Again, huge props for all the effort and thank you for it.

Cool idea. Only one complaint:

1. The cave that automatically webs you needs a skill check. I think it is universally accepted that no-skill check things like "roots" and stuff kinda blows.

Still exploring. Thanks for the release.

My appologies, I just saw where the main thread with replies are at in the Staff folder. I'm excited to hear that boat routes are planned for the future and look forward to the events! I will also continue to sacrifice a gnome daily in the hopes for something I can hunt which will allow me to move out there. :) Finally, I do want to restate a big thank you to all for your efforts upstairs and hope the silly normative comments of the few from the other thread won't rain on your parade.

>can we expect some high to very high end hunting in this area?

I won't make any promises, but I hope that some day we can have both ends of the spectrum covered. There's definitely more hunting planned.

>Will boats be able to learn how to sail to Fang Cover's dock as a possible destination

Eventually, ships will be able to sail here. I won't promise your pilot will be able to steer here himself, you may have to do it manually. I've not been able to get into the particulars of the ship system to sort this out yet.

>will this ever be accessible from the mainland

While it may be mainland, it's very, very remote. It would no doubt entail several ranger paradises to pull off. There are no current plans for this.

>The cave that automatically webs you needs a skill check.

There is a check. These are the same mechs used in the dusk ogre caves near Riverhaven. There's a base % chance to be caught, and then your skill can allow you instant freedom. If you don't meet instant freedom, then you get webbed for a bit.

congrats on getting this prime side as well, loving it.

one bug i found, the furrier fellow- gorund, seems to be standing outside of his shop all day and disappeared at night, but his shop still didn't open, day nor night. The other two shopkeepers <Osmandikar and Lakyan>seem to be working as intended - sort of the premium version of Jackwater. :-).

Can you add directions to Fang Cove to Premium 6 please? My thanks. I am on my way to explore there as I type.. Only problem is I converted my coin to Lir since I thought it was a part of P4, not P1.

Re: Web

Great to hear it has a skill check. I was popping 11-15 (going off of memory) RT in the area. It appears that the skill check is escaping, which would make sense. You may consider upping the learning rate in relation to the RT? Escaping is pretty hard to learn until you hunt dillos IMO, so I bet this will impact some folks.

Overall, a fun area. A curious location for it IMO. What made you stick it out in the middle of nowhere?

All cool Z. Some highlights that I loved:

1. I like the method of travel to the Cove. The sea mammoth is pretty cool.

2. Probably more than anywhere else, I can sense the story of the Cove through the various things located about the area. You (and others) took a ton of time to tell the story of the area through the things we touch and see. That is pretty awesome-sauce.

3. I really...really love a few of the hidden areas and the intimate touches in those areas. The secluded islands is my personal favorite.

4. The creatures are not just randomly placed. They seem to belong in their area with their own story. The gremlin area with the statute in the depression stands out to me.

Thanks for the work.

I don't want to say the Mammoth was worth the extremely long double shift wait for it, but it was really cool when I was riding it.

So, seems there are a bit of these Mammoths with mammoth riders, we going to be able to sail all over Elanthia with them or something?

Glad you and others are enjoying it. :) I'm thrilled to finally have it out so that we can start pushing the rest. ;)

Premi sea mounts. Hmm. That'd be neat, but there are no plans for such. The Merelew rallied their forces in the search for the survivors. Most of what you see out there will be the ones returning home.

someone did put the recalls up for a couple of them on epedia. That was a good read, because my bard hasn't gotten out there yet, nor would either one of them be able to handle some of the harder critters. But thanks to epedia! all hail!

I like finding out new stuff. And exploring too. I'm not capable of adding to the maps though, but the underwater area with sharks still needs exploring. Wasn't able to figure out how to get to the gargs either from the initial entrance, i'll have to explore some more.

If you post a log, I can map it out in paint. I've found map making to be rather enjoyable in itself.

I know of two watery areas to explore, but I worry a bit about drowning... if anyone is in the area that is a strong swimmer, I would love to see what's down there.

I mapped it out on graph paper, but don't really have the energy to make it into a paint doc. If anyone is interested in doing so (or just wants it for reference) you can shoot me an IM at Cyiarriah and I'll send you a copy of it.

Maybe this won't work with the critter range yet (but then again, i'm not sure!), but would this ever be considered as a starting point for new characters out of the CM? Assuming the council convinces guild leaders to send reps (similar to haven, where they only go up to a few circles?), as the cove grows bigger?

I know it's a few minutes from Ratha, but as a premie perk- maybe have arena, meeting, and festive portals eventually?

A few minutes from Ratha? Ahhh, seems a heck of a lot longer to me.

Which is my biggest problem with Fang Cove, I like the place. Explored it, and tried to find things to interact with, and I liked the place.

I liked the description on the ride over and the ride back (though the seem to be the same).

The only real problem is the time, it takes a while to get to Ratha, a while to wait for the Mammoth, and then the return trip is the same.

by the way, anyone find out if those "drowned <race> critters are backstabbable?

I can see the moons, but when I tried to raise totem with a fragment. So the platform is covered somewhat or something?

>raise totem
You raise your raven totem alongside your glowing fragment, but nothing happens. You sense the glowing fragment's yearning for the open sky.
>observ moon
You glance outside.
You scan the heavens for the three moons:
An eerie black glow behind the clouds betrays the presence of Katamba.

A deep blue glow from behind the clouds betrays the presence of Xibar.

A deep red glow from behind the clouds betrays the presence of Yavash.

could be that it's just an open structure with overhead cover (never been to the Cove yet, so just my guess) so while you can see all the outside stuff just fine, the direct overhead path that the fragment would take is blocked by the overhead cover.

Whenever you get the message "You glance outside", it means that the room is protected/covered, with a view of the sky, but not "full outdoors."

Covering is important for keeping instruments out of inclement weather. Full outdoors is needed for the totem, and certain moon mage spells.

Can I just say that I HATE the area where you return after dying? I am stuck in here and have no idea how to get out...I have accepted that I have lost my stuff where I was hunting, and just want to get out...it seems I have been going in circles, well other than getting into the Genii area of course and almost dying again.

This is terrible. Anyone able to help?

>>I have accepted that I have lost my stuff where I was hunting

There really is no excuse for this:

depart help

Syntax:

DEPART will restore you to life at the nearest depart point at the cost of one or more favors, potential memory (exp) loss, and a temporary penalty to overall effectiveness. Unless you have multiple favors and choose one of the special options below, you will also lose all coins you are carrying and all your items will go in a grave and need to be recovered. Items placed in a grave may be damaged. You will be healed of all wounds, but will have very low vitality, fatigue, spirit health, and concentration.

DEPART -- (1 favor) Standard depart. Lose all coins, 1 favor (if you have one), items go in grave.
DEPART COINS -- (2 favors) Same as normal depart, but allows you to keep your coins.
DEPART ITEMS -- (2 favors) Same as normal depart, but allows you to keep your items (but not coins).
DEPART FULL -- (3 favors) Same as normal depart, but allows you to keep all items and coins.

Um yes, I don't mean a grave, I mean the stuff in my hands when I was one-shot killed. <sigh> I'd be a lot more upset if I actually had to get back to a grave.

Thanks for the directions via IM, that meant the world to me...I NEVER would have found the exit.

GMs, please if you read this...getting out of this area is much too hard for a depart area. Having to search in a specific room for a specific creeper (not a vine, not a plant, not any other thing listed in the rooms) is incredibly frustrating. I'm sure once it is mapped nobody will care, but without a map or an idea of what to do, this is pointless..in my opinion.

You're brought to a lil cave behind the waterfall. You can get to it thru the snake cave thru the high grass and north thru the pond.
