Sometime ago I asked if all festivals are now paid events and someone replied that there will be free festivals for everyone to attend. Is this still the case ? Have there been any in the last year ? How do they get advertised in game ?

Guildfest was in the past year and free to everyone.

The Guildfest was up near Theren and I don't know if that is place that F2P players need a passport to get to or not so I'm not sure if it was completely free.

You need a pass to get to guildfest. I think calling it a pay fest because of that is a bit of a stretch, though.
