Howdy!

In the past few years, we've had so few people on staff that staff-generated events were fairly rare, especially as related to things we might be building to release. As such, it made a lot of sense to use more OOC methods, like writing to the Events team to let us know where you'd be and what you'd be doing, in case we had a body that could enhance what was going on. As anyone who has done so can attest, sometimes we were able to do something, most times we weren't.

Staff is growing - we now have enough people to actually build things and do events around them! This is exciting for us, and I'm pretty sure a lot of you are going to be very excited about it, too! It does, however, leave me wanting to clarify what you might expect when writing to the events group.

If you're going to host a meeting or auction or other event, definitely write to the events team with those details if you want a calendar entry. You have control over things like dates, times, target audience, etc for these things!

If you're writing in with questions/concerns/etc about world events that we're doing, it might be a better mindset to think of your email as an extended MYCHAR. We are always glad to hear your thoughts! If we get emails expressing serious confusion or misconceptions, we may choose to have an NPC show up and explain or clarify something out in public. (By the time you see us out there with NPCs, whatever we're building is just about ready to release, which means we've got a timeline - and whatever else we want to build/do/create next may be delayed if we don't keep that timeline.)

In short - any information from us in response to an email is going to be in a public forum and not directed to any individual.

That was a long way of keeping things short, but I hope it helps clarify what to expect when writing in!

Thank you!

Got a question about what role Calendar entries play:

Calendar entries end up being an OOC means to share something that in a truly organic world might have been posted on the church doors or trees around town. In ye olden days, when most folks couldn't even read, it might be common for someone who wanted to make sure everyone knew a thing, to post it in public and have a town crier read it out loud at least once. We don't have the mechanics in-game to just toss fliers on doors, so we use the calendar system. How would your character talk about a calendar entry? You could say you heard it from a town crier, you saw a note posted on a tree on Town Green, you overheard someone talking about it in a tavern or while standing around in your guild-hall. If you're not in town much, it might've been something you overheard while lurking in a popular hunting ground, or saw on a note that the wind blew past you or.. could be lots of ways a person might overhear or read a thing. What makes sense for your character? :)

Hopefully this helps?
