I put in a more detailed BUG about this in-game, but yesterday the game (seemed to be) running smoothly and today the "JOIN LIST and immediately be dropped from it" bug is back.
Hopefully it's worth the GM elbow-grease to get this game up and running smoothly, it'd be nice to have another "quick turnaround" game to help spread folks out and as an option during prime time when C&A is full.
Also, can a bucket be put in the TT area please? Thanks!

I was having this same problem in Plat. Not sure if it was happening before that because I was waiting for some Prime folks to better explain what the event was since it seemed death-risky (I'm a coward!).

Ynami,
Unfortunately, it looks like things are still bugging up with multiple people. Slightly different "flavor" of skipping than yesterday, but basically the same. One person looks to be able to play fine, however once the 2nd person comes in and does a JOIN LIST, it'll either drop the 1st person if they are on the list but not yet on the game, or if the 1st person is IN the game, it'll drop the 2nd person who just joined.
A slightly different twist is that now, if you are the person to be dropped, and you do a JOIN LIST again before the 1st person is done with their game, you'll get the message "The seedy monger looks up at you and exclaims, "But you are already registered!"", but when you immediately do a READ LIST, your name will not be on it. Once the 1st person completes their game, the 2nd person can attempt to JOIN LIST and jump into rotation again.
But right now, it's pretty much a 1 person game unless you don't mind spamming JOIN LIST in order to bump other people out of rotation.
I was thinking, maybe this would be a good game to steal the code from last years Boggle Blast for? Something like you JOIN LIST, and instead of 1 room that everyone has to wait for, there would be 5 or 6 different doors that the game would just feed you into when your name is called. Just something to bypass whatever is going on with the list resetting.

Re: Ter. Tricks game bugged up on 11/17/2020 10:09 PM CST
I took a peek and haven't been able to simulate the described behavior. The closest thing I've seen is that it is possible that after someone is called they JOIN LIST again before they head off to the waiting area to go through the stage door. If no one else was on the list, the person who double-joined does get to go twice in a row before anyone who joins after them.
Any chance you could help me with a fresh log of being dropped from the list or a concrete set of actions that causes this still?

Re: Ter. Tricks game bugged up on 11/18/2020 04:56 PM CST
Ynami, the game is currently unplayable for me, even though I'm the only person there. I do know how to make the game work - I've run it for approximately 10 total hours of playing.
Previously, I would have my script join the list every 4 seconds to make sure I was not removed. Now, I'm being removed from the list just as frequently, but never actually being called to go play the game. I've tried several times to see if being removed from the list meant that it was my turn, even though it doesn't message me - no dice. Nothing happens when I go to the waiting area.
I set my script up to try to add myself to the list every 4 seconds to counteract the fact that it was buggily removing me, and this worked fine for a long time. Now it's no longer working.

This is all I see, over and over. It should be very easy to replicate if you go into Prime and try it out. I have no gags running, and do not have atmo messaging squelched.

Yea, looks like this afternoon I'm having the same problem as Saragos. Right now I'm the only one in the game attempting to play, so there isn't a chance for the "player bump" bug I was noting before. The following is a copy/paste from about 10-15 seconds of the game window while trying to get the game to trigger on (I was never called to play):

Re: Ter. Tricks game bugged up on 11/18/2020 06:41 PM CST
There was a bug with READ LIST in that it was sometimes off by one... that is the READ would sometimes skip the first person. That's been fixed. In watching, however, no one has lost their spot or not been called after joining the list.
I've also added a roundtime to joining the list again after you have already joined since a few people seemed to be going crazy with it.

Re: Ter. Tricks game bugged up on 11/18/2020 09:20 PM CST
@Ynami It's still not fixed. I stopped spamming joining due to the roundtime, but now it's in no way guaranteed that I get to go. Here's an example of me joining the list while someone is in the game, only to have it drop me from the list before calling me and have the person who just finished get to go again. I'm going to have to continue spamming joining the list if I want to play the game.

Near a water trough, a number of the stage crew mill about holding clay steins and chatting. Periodically one slips though the stage door and back out again, nodding to his compatriots. You manage to escape the bonds holding you against the web and you drop to the ground freely.
A great cheer rises from the onlookers!
One of the thugs escorts you back to the waiting area, putting some miniature bamboo turtles in your right hand.
[Stupid Terrestrian Tricks, Waiting Area]
This temporary, three-sided structure acts as a waiting area for contestants, and as a place for the Mongers' assistants to loiter. Near a water trough, a number of the stage crew mill about holding clay steins and chatting. Periodically one slips though the stage door and back out again, nodding to his compatriots. You also see a delicate gold bracelet of interlocking striped seaperch and the amphitheater.
Obvious exits: none.
The Monger's assistants busy themselves preparing for the next contestant.
Now what did the Web ever do to you?
>kick web
I could not find what you were referring to.
>go amp

[Stupid Terrestrian Tricks, Stands]
From this small amphitheater the stage is visible in its entirety, as is the registration booth and the waiting area. Wooden bleachers have been provided for the audience's comfort, and the crowd has taken advantage of them. You also see a pebbled path leading out to the island proper.
Obvious exits: none.

Monger Pyr Od'Lolg sits on a stool behind a narrow countertop lording over the registration list and watching the goings on with a careful eye. You also see a small silvery white finger puppet of a Merelew, the amphitheater, a large sign painted in bold red relief and a registration list.

Re: Ter. Tricks game bugged up on 11/19/2020 02:23 PM CST
So this morning (11/19), it looks like in general the game is working right for a single player. There was another player when I first started, and it seemed to be going ok, but they stopped after a few rounds so I don't have enough info to comment on that right now.
Anyhow, I've been able to play many (20+) games in a row without being dropped from the list with that bug that had been plaguing it. So yey! I have had to add a pause of 30 seconds between leaving the game and the next JOIN LIST, as I kept getting the following message if I would try to join the list too soon:
>The seedy monger looks up at you and exclaims, "It's already your turn, head to the stage!"
But, that isn't that big of a deal, just weirdness in the messaging (would make more sense to be something like "Aren't you tired, take a break" instead). And, when I would get that message, if I just waited a little longer, I could JOIN LIST fine without any of the dropping issues.
I imagine someone will wander over and start to play eventually (:::looks around for Saragos:::) and I'll post again with notes on how the game is running then.
Thanks for all the work debugging the game! Oh, and I realize this is entering henpecking territory, but a bucket in one of the rooms would really be appreciated.

My observations: When I'm the only one playing I stay on the list and get called consistently. When I played with a second person on the list the results varied on the person. Likely due to how they were scripting it. With Player A on the list with me, I continually had to rejoin the list while waiting for my turn. When Player B was on the list, I could join and would not get dropped. How I was scripting the game remained constant.

Yea, this evening it looks like it is totally bugged up again for me too. I keep joining the list, but never get called. Tried about a dozen times now with various wait-times between. When I do go back to READ LIST, I am no longer on it.
I've got a different LOOK STAGE from the front room though:
>The stage is almost completely covered in strands of thick webbing. There's a small area cleared for the stagehands to move around, and a metal cage set with its open door on some of the webbing.

Looks like the dropping bug when there are multiple people playing is back, although at least the game isn't froze this evening.
I think tonight, what looks to be happening is this process:
- 2 people are on the list, player #1 and player #2
- player #1 gets called
- around the time that the spider is released and player #1 begins the game, player #2 is dropped from the list
- if player #2 joins the list while player #1 is running the game, the list does call player #2 as expected once player #1 is done
So in summary, as long as just 2 people are playing, and each waits until the other starts action against the web to join the list, it advances as expected. However, if you join the list before the other player starts actions against the web, the list will drop you.
There wasn't enough time with a 3rd player attempting to play to see what was happening to the list with an additional person.
