Thought it might be cool to have a verb that allows players to make bets during tournaments, and that automatically distributes winnings into players' bank accounts.
just before participants combat:
>bet on <combatant> 100000 kro
You just placed a bet on <combatant>! Best of luck!

If the GM's were interested in doing this, they could make it work like poker where you were winning other players money rather than the house's money. They could even skim off the top to reduce money in circulation.
For example:
Gambler A bets 30 plat on dueler A
Gambler B bets 5 plat on dueler B
Gambler C bets 10 plat on dueler B
If Dueler A wins:
Gambler A gets 15 plats (minus the amount skimmed of the top)
If Dueler B wins:
Gambler B gets 10 plats (1/3 of 30) and Gambler C gets 20 plats (2/3 of 30) minus the houses cut.
The real problem is with unbalanced bidding (like in this case). This could be remedied by making the maximum winnings equal to your bet. in the above example Gambler B would get 5 plats and Gambler would get 10 plats if they won. If unfair losses are a problem (and it is debatable if they are - removing plats from the system is not a bad thing) losses could be similarly limited by potential winnings. In the case above if gambler A loses 15 plats would be refunded, minus the house's cut.

>For example:
What your talking about is poker, you're talking about parimutuel betting like they do with horses.
The rake, is a percentage taken out of the total pool.
No matter what you call it, I think it's a great idea, but I think coding that would be a pretty big monster.
And just like "boat races" at the tracks, there would be no way to stop player collusion.
