Here are the numbers so far:

308 successful assassinations.
177 rebuffed assassinations.

The number of rebuffed assassinations is of particular interest to me, because it means that a third of assassination attempts result in the assassin failing against his target. This means that if you take the superior knowledge that the assassin has over his target, as well as the surprise factor, it seems like the matchmaking is rather balanced.
