Do Magic skills factor into this? particularly PM and TM

what it does not take into consideration is buffs, be they from khri's , dances, spells, CJ's etc....so the person that would get schooled in chata could and did use all kinds of buffs to take away whatever handicap they would have had tracking me down there while hunting....stacking khri's, buff etc does not equal even matches....my perception is on par for a barb of my circle....if not higher....I do not spend my time sitting about juggling/foraging whatever to train perception when I have so many combats to train. My point is....not that the game is unfair....but that it doesn't take buffs into consideration if they are not active at the time a contract is given. An 80th circle thief, using all their available khri's and CJ's far out classes a barbarian 20 circles over them in regards to stealths. At the time I had dragon dance up....and was still one shot by someone I couldn't see even with 400 perception. So ya can take the dragon dance thing being OP and throw it out the window vs stacked khri and CJ's. 500's in every defense and dragon dance, stood zero chance vs a seriously buffed sniper 20 circles lower.

My only fight so far was pretty even. I lost, but it was largely because I'm stupid.
My only beef so far is when your request gives you someone who isn't online or logs off immediately. You're sort of stuck. Be nice if there was a mechanic that'd speed up the process if your prey isn't in game. It's been about 50 minutes now and I still can't abandon. And, I suspect if I do abandon, I may have to wait longer before I can get another one who's actually playing.
I also wouldn't mind a time limit on how long someone has to come get you. I've been waiting on someone to come try to kill me for like several hours now with nary a locate and only one contact, which never amounted to anything even though I didn't move.

I'm going to be honest - Interpreting over a thousand characters without a single line break combined with 16 elipses is not how I'm going to spend my afternoon. I'm open to understanding your concerns about the game, but I'm not going to spend time translating to do it.
Assassins does not do an in-depth analysis of your abilities to decide Exactly where you rank, because there's such a wide gap between having abilities and using them effectively. The assumption is that as circles increase, guild power increases at a roughly constant rate (from a zoomed out perspective).
The equation is mostly based on skill, with some stats also involved. This is the last of the information you'll get from me on this topic.
Let's not turn this into a 'L2Play' thread. There's combat forums dedicated to 'how do I do combat effectively', but this folder is for discussions about Assassins specifically.
>>I am not understanding the RP motivation behind the sudden influx in murderous bounty hunters.
Basically, there isn't. Wrapping roleplay around a game that is so particularly meta-game in design would feel shallow and wouldn't satisfy anybody - The people that don't care would be annoyed at the 'thees' and 'thous' and the people that want a roleplayed solution would feel cheated.
There's some in-character messaging, and as the system matures it may settle into a bit more of an RP niche, but the fundamental motivation of Assassins is to give people something fun to that doesn't require GM involvement but will always (have the potential to) stay fresh.

I've got it set up such that you have to have the target for one hour before you can abandon it. I might consider letting you abandon any target that's not online at any time, though. I'll think on that.

I don't think this game is for you.
I will continue to get blunter on this topic until people get the message or my posts contain enough profanity to be removed. - Armifer

I think this is awesome. Playability first.
Why does there even need to be a spoon-fed IC explanation? People got contacted somehow to engage in assassination and have willingly done so.
Is this Trothfang's version of reality TV? Huldah pulling a Kraelyst-level prank? Damarais recruiting? Let the speculation begin! RP it out and see where it goes.

>>Well, if you change your mind, you could consider having the NPC say it is a sort of on-going tournament with cash prizes for each kill.
Then we'd have to get into why PCs who were decently moral are now killing people endlessly for LEWTZ.
I'm going to do my best to ignore it from an RP aspect, up until the point where I'm in the middle of something with someone and they get assassinated and I'm supposed to handwave it away.
