Outside the East gate of Riverhaven, the frigid waters of the Faldesu churn the bank to any icy slurry. pale grey clouds boil across the sky toward the horizon. Though no longer snowing, the air itself is cold enough to tear the breath from anyone foolish enough to venture outside and turns unprotected flesh red as raw meat.

The heavily robed form of the white scaled S'kra Mur kneels in silent vigil by the bloodstained altar. Completely immobile, she resembles little more than a lifesculpted icon of genuflection.

Then, as the westering sun struggles to break the surface of clouds, she stirs. She brings forth from her cassock a sapphire shaped into a stylized shark and cradles it within her claws. From cobalt to ultramarine, the softly glowing gem pulsates in a heartbeat rhythm. Though steady and unhurried, it stirs a vague unease within the S'kra Mur that brings to mind the terrors that lurk beneath the glacial deep. Restrained for the time being, but always present. Waiting.

"I have not forgotten, Lord," she mutters, tracing the miniature beast's carved teeth. "Tell me what must be done and it shall be so."

Her good eye films over. Movement and light draw her attention to the river where a spectral purple esper alights upon the glassy surface. Another glimmering wisp joins it, and then another, until all the water is ablaze. Upon closer inspection, each tiny flame is a candle aboard a ghostly ship. Together, they form a brilliant fleet of immaculate formation. Although a miraculous sight, the Priestess is overcome by irritation tethered with a desire to be let loose upon the open water.

She utters a few words of praise and as her breath escapes, every single apparitional sail unfurls. The S'kra Mur is barely aware of her motionless body by the altar's side as she crosses the river to join the lights on their voyage. Further and further they travel, with the Priestess keeping watch over the ships and their precious cargo, until - at last! The vastness of the Reshal Sea lies before them. Contentment and elation fills the Priestess and her face twitches in something resembling a grin.

Without warning, a fearsome blast of wind crashes into the ships like a hammer, sending them colliding with a great clash of sound! The once-calm surface of the water threshes with phantasmal triangular fins as more of the hapless vessels are seized by some great force and dragged down into the depths. Coarse, yet satisfied laughter rumbles all around. Overcome with the savage power of the sea, the Priestess throws back her head and joins in, her shoulders shaking convulsively with mirth.

"I am becoming very worried about you!"

The S'kra Mur blinks. She is before the altar once again. What looks like a pumpkin with a Prydaen head popping out stands a safe distance away with her mouth fixed into a pensive 'v' shape. "Um... are you all right? Are you having a sea-shirt? Do you need healing...?"

"Nakori, I have seen! And soon... so will they all!" The Priestess smiles wide in a great display of flashing teeth that would put an elsralael to shame. "Oh, it will be amazing! Wondrous! You must tell everyone you see, and this is what you will say..."

---

All faithful and repentant are encouraged to attend this celebration in honor of Drogor's presence in Therengia. We strive to placate His wrath and ensure that He continues to look over this land with good favor. After a small ceremony, offerings will be sent out to sea for Drogor's pleasure. Attendants should bring something that may be used as a sacrifice -- yourself is fine.

(This will take place on Thursday, September 1st at 9 pm EST at the Drogor altar outside of the East gate of Riverhaven.)

This took way longer than I would have liked to post, but here is the log of the event. I tried to cut it down to a reasonable length, though it is still somewhat long. I want to thank everyone who attended, and I would also like to remind readers at home to hail Drogar... I mean, Drogor.

[Riverhaven, Stone Bridge]
The lanes outside the eastern gate of Riverhaven are crowded with the bustle of street peddlers and merchant wagons coming and going in a great rush to sell their wares. Beggars line the paved road, aware that the more influential and wealthy folks use this gate. They hover, hands extended, hoping that a moment of kindness and charity might befall them. A stone bridge that once provided passage across the river is now little more than a crumbling stone pier used by some local fishermen.
You also see a boggy path along a river and a crude bloodstained altar near the rubble of the old bridge.
Obvious paths: northeast.

[You] "All of Elanthia, the time for great rejoicing is nearly upon us! It is not too late... come all reverent and faithful! All who wish to taken in the Lesson! To the altar of Drogor outside the East Gate of Riverhaven! "
You concentrate on projecting your thoughts.

>
Saragos clears his throat.
>
Sulic pulls his cavalier hat down around his ears.
>
Saragos says, "Hey, Drogor. I bring you my curses, my foul words. I understand, now, that the Storm needs to come and knock things down once in a while for us to build higher. It's painful when it comes, but we need it. It makes us stronger. I give you my thanks."
>
Saragos says, "No word of blasphemy shall cross my lips until you bless me with your particular brand of catastrophe once more. And when that day comes you shall know each harsh word that passes my lips as yours, as praise for your roaring Storm, and I shall do you honor by calling upon your Lightning."

Zhirrisk loudly says, "Drogor, Teeth of the Deep, Gallant Minstrel of Doom and Destruction, Divine Havoc of The Seas, I ask, myself a mere Emperor of the Cosmos, just for one storm. A storm mighty enough to crumble buildings beneath the lashing rain! A storm mighty enough to alight the soggiest forests with a single strike of lightning! And in this storm, I will take my young daughter to the lighthouse, and hold her aloft, that she may witness the splendor, the glory, the awe, and understand Your rage, Your horrific might! Please don't let me drop her when I do that. Cordially yours, Zhirrisk Dozypaws, Your obedient servant and Dragoon and Shark-feeder."

>
You point at Isiljur.
>
Isiljur nods to you.
>
You gravely say, "Worthy mortal. If you are ready, lie upon the altar."
>

You draw out your haralun misericorde from the tail sheath, gripping it firmly in your right hand.

>
Sulic peers quizzically at Isiljur.
>
Sulic ducks his head.
>
You notice Sulic slip into a hiding place.
>
Janaetta pulls the hood of her cloak up.
>
Zhirrisk mutters something into the air about everyone ought to step closer to get the splatter on your faces don't be shy now.
>
Isiljur quietly says, "Dread Lord of Storms..I am nothing..I have nothing to offer you..but this life. Hold back your wrath from our lands if you find this sacrifice worthy."
>
You get some holy oil from inside an ebony silk devotional pouch which is in your rucksack.
>
You sprinkle Isiljur with some holy oil.
You have about 4 doses left.
>
Isiljur nods to you.
>
You put your oil in the devotional pouch which is inside your rucksack.

> sacrifice isiljur
Isiljur is too young to be sacrificed his soul would make no worthy offering.

Zevazi praises Isiljur.
>
You glance up at the sky.
The night winter sky is a crisp, clear, starry black.
>
You stare blankly into the distance.
>
You reverently say, "... it will be as You say."
>
You shake your head at Isiljur.

>
You glance at Toreakas, a male Halfling.
>
Janaetta glances up at the sky.
>
You say, "Now, then. Attend me and we shall join the river."
>
Zevazi reaches out and touches a crude bloodstained altar near the rubble of the old bridge.
Zevazi shivers slightly.
>
You gracefully dive into the Faldesu river.

[Faldesu River, North Bank]
The Riverhaven town wall stretches out into the waters a short distance upriver from a crumbling stone bridge. An orange glow rises above the dark wall from the torches and lamps of the town along with the low buzz of voices muffled by the night. Several small fishing boats bob in the sheltered part of the river near the town wall, silently awaiting their masters.
Obvious paths: southeast, south, southwest.

[Everyone else dives into the water. There is a lot of splashing.]

Zhirrisk shakes his aqua origami ship violently! The creased folds flap apart wildly. Zhirrisk balls the ship's remains into a crumpled wad of paper.
>
Mistanna flounders about in the water.
>
You get a graceful small-scale galleon gaff-rigged with sails of gossamer from inside your rucksack.
>
Navesi glances at Mistanna.
>
You squint at Zhirrisk.
>
Janaetta whispers to your group, "Isn't that a huge kersplash!"
>

>
Zhirrisk says, "Drogor accepted my offering early..."
>
Zhirrisk has accepted your offer and is now holding a black origami ship.
>
Liurilias splashes water all over Janaetta!
>
Navesi glances up at the sky.
>
Janaetta laughs at Liurilias.
>
Sulic jumps up in the air and lands with a colossal WHOOOOSH, spraying water all over you!
>
Mistanna swims about in lazy circles.
>
Zhirrisk puts his paper in his journey pack.
>
Sulic cackles!
>
You thrash Sulic soundly.
>
Kelneth chuckles.
>
Sulic grins at you.
>
Chelinde churns up water with her feet, spraying you thoroughly.
>
Sulic waves a blue origami ship around.
>
Zhirrisk splutters.
>
Zevazi grins at Chelinde.
>
You smile with great fondness, placing the galleon upon the water.
>
Zevazi tackles Chelinde, dragging her down under the water. Chelinde quickly emerges, coughing water.
>
Chelinde splutters.
>
You get a Drogor box from inside your rucksack.
>
Chelinde churns up water with her feet, spraying Zevazi thoroughly.
>
Rozze asks, "Let's try to keep the water calm?"
>
Sulic flails about in the water.
>
You say, "May Drogor see to it that this precious cargo reaches His domain."
>
(Whiteburn carefully places the box onto the deck of the model galleon.)
>
Chelinde gazes at a Drogor box.
>
Navesi shivers.
>
You say, "Now everyone... release your ships into the water."

[They begin to do so. Most end up in the water without ceremony.]

(Navesi gently places her ship upon the water.)
>
(Isharon reverently lowers her ship into the river.)
>
(Whiteburn lowers her ship gently.)
>
(Zhirrisk slips a chunk of chocolate onto his ship, muttering something about hoping an albatross chokes on it.)
>
Liurilias observes Zhirrisk with fascination.
>
You get some deep red wine from inside your tapestry cassock.
>
You get a shabby shark's tooth from inside your tapestry cassock.
>
You pour some of the red wine onto the shark's tooth. Almost as soon as the wine touches the surface, it boils and evaporates in a puff of steam! A bull brine shark looms up out of the steam, its maw gaping! The vaporous apparation swims a hasty circle through the air before vanishing into nothingness!
You feel a tugging in your chest, as if something greater than yourself seeks more attention.
>
You pour some of the red wine onto the shark's tooth. Almost as soon as the wine touches the surface, it boils and evaporates in a puff of steam! You sense a primal hunger connected to the shark's tooth, but a momentary sense of being sated holds the hunger in check.
>
Zhirrisk beams!
>
You put your tooth in the Drogor box.
>
You exclaim, "And now, with one more prayer, we send each one of our ships to the Reshal Sea!"
>
You chant in a soprano voice:

"Praise be to Drogor!
Take up these gifts to Your domain.
May this humble offering be pleasing to You.
May the eyes of mortals behold the sweet majesty of the eternal, the predators of the ocean, and the irresistable might of the Storm!
May every mortal vessel feel Your presence and shake before Your power!
May all in attendace and all over Elanthia know that you are Drogor and these are Your days!
Praise be!"

You throw your head back and howl!
>
Zhirrisk throws his head back and howls!
>
Sulic gets an impish expression on his face, and lets out a hearty cheer.
>
Isharon lies back against the water and shuts her eyes, offering up a silent prayer.
>
Zhirrisk ducks down under the water for a second and then resurfaces, thoroughly soaked.
>
Navesi flounders about in the water.
>
You say, "...that is all for this night. May Drogor have mercy on our souls."
