When I shape arrows, I do all the steps to finish the arrow, but it doesn't complete and says I need one more step using a knife. When I try to leave the room it says: "You notice some arrow shafts at your feet, and do not wish to leave it behind." and it won't let me leave the room. two times I was able to drop the shafts (they changed to shaft. another time to flights) and compost them, then leave the room. However, another time I dropped the uncompleted arrows to the ground and composted them, but even though they were gone, I dot the same message and could not leave the room. I assisted about 3 times and was able to leave when the helper put the item back in my hand. I have been gone from the game since 2004 and just came back. I was a crafter back then with leather and fletching. I had a lot of old crafted gear on me. I am not sure if that is part of the problem or not.

You might not be aware of the new at feet slot. It's a new 'worn' slot that lets you put things on the ground but not have them subject to theft, compost, or the janitor. If you have anything in the at feet slot you cannot move from the room (exception: due to technical limitations you can move through portals such as doors, arches, mokngates, etc.) Most crafting systems will automatically place items in your at feet slot if your hands are full at the time. All you should need to do is get the item to move it to your hands. You can also see if you have anything at your feet using the inventory command.

To manually place something there use LOWER GROUND for the item in your right hand or LOWER GROUND LEFT for the item in your left hand.

I forgot to add that items at your feet alaoncome with you when you depart and thrown items that miss or don't lodge will end up there as well. (exception: thrown items that missed due to a target's incorporeal state will still end up on the ground.)
