So, I just had Caraamon make me a nice silversteel carving knife. Thinking that it would be more durable and better than any of the others, I gave it a try. This is what happened.

You flip an unfinished balsa toe ring over and begin to shape it with your shaper. The vigorous rubbing shapes the wood surface and produces absolutely no mistakes.
The wood is ready to have more fine detail carved with a carving knife.
Roundtime: 13 sec.
>put my shaper in my haversack
>get my carving knife
You put your shaper in your suede haversack.

The knife feels somehow different in your hands. You may want to try carving with it again now that it seems like a real crafting tool...
The carving knife is all used up and cannot be used for that.
Any further attempts gain me the following messge:

My horrible skill shows me this when I analyze:

You try to analyze the carving knife, but are unable to discern hardly anything about it.
This appears to be a crafting tool and it has approximately 0 uses remaining.

When I try to get it repaired, I get:

You likely already did, but you should be able to assist to have it set back to what it should be.

It still appraises as the weapon it did prior to the conversion. I'm keen on leaving it as is for now in case it is needed as a reference whenever the bug is dug into. I did have two made, so I have an unconverted one and a buggy converted one.
