1. Can I find rare(r) metals even if I can't see them via prospect?
2. Is there a list of places with mining other than the ones listed on Elanthipedia? http://www.elanthipedia.com/wiki/Category:Mines. Or are these areas kept secret?

Every time you MINE, you have a very, very small chance of having a chunk of rare metal pop out, regardless of what minerals or metals show up when you prospect. This chance increases the closer you get to mining the room out (i.e. you have a much better chance of getting a platinum nugget to pop out when there is only a "small" amount left, versus a "good" amount).

There were more on that list than I previously though: there should be ten mines around the realms and they all should be on the list. Being logged in may make a difference in how many show up on the page, so I created my own back-up list:
