Often one of the worst parts of a GM's job, or any job where you deal with people -- is having to relay bad news. Even though this is a text-based reality, I still get the same sense of dread as I trudge out into the center of the virtual coliseum to suffer the slings and arrows so often hurled at the messenger. So I will get the bad news out of the way first.
And now that I have you all going, "Oh no!" I'm sure you're wondering what's up, though some of you may have guessed, have a theory, or found out via the grapevine.
It is with regret that I have to inform you that GM Naiph has left the staff of DragonRealms. She had a long and distinguished career, and was instrumental in the core development and initial release of the Official Orders system. She has a deep love for this game and its players, and she will be missed. All my bright thoughts go with her on any future path she may take.
Now, this happened a few weeks back and I did delay the announcement. This was because her departure was abrupt in nature and alot of thought had to go into what we would do next. But after much hand wringing, brainstorming and heart-to-heart negotiations I am confident in the steps we're taking will end up being a huge boon to the Orders system and each one of you involved in it.
So that brings me to the good news portion. In the depths of our despair, a rather scruffy-looking white knight came charging over the horizon -- vowing that he was the man for the job.
Ladies & Gentlemen, I have very pleased to announce that the new head of the Orders system will be none other than GM Raenek. He has a true appreciation for Orders, having been a member or two or three.... (won't tell you who, when or where nyah) He also has a strong background not only in CE as the former Liaison for the Ranger Guild, but also as a Development GM, coming to us from the Systems Team. I really grilled him about this and was reassured that he will be able to take up the mantle and see that this system finally gets completed. So please give him a hearty welcome aboard the cursed rollercoaster that Orders seems to be at times. ;)
And what would a white knight be without a fair maiden by his side. Also joining the Orders team is the lovely lady with the drop-dead smile, our own Editor-In-Chief of the Hentaraen, GM Olarra. Along with her duties running the in-game newspaper she will be assisting you with getting your events publicized as well as the technical support that running your events may entail, such as food or items, etc. She is also one of our resident NEWS experts, so expect to see your Order items plastered everywhere short of the bathroom wall. She can be a little shy at first, so don't be too hard on her. ;)
I can tell you that Raenek has spent the better part of the last week up to his furry ears in old code, new code, histories and documentation. We will be meeting shortly to come up with a battle plan, but beyond that the reins are in his hands. Enjoy the ride.
Sincerely,
SGM Auriane
